Trauma Department

Wangjing Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine

In November 1977, under the care of former Yue Party and national leaders such as Zhonglai Prime Minister, Li Zhejiang Vice-President, and others, China's Chinese Medical Institute established the Institute of Bone Injury, the first specialized research institution in China to be established for clinical disciplines. The Center has brought seven renowned bone injury experts from across the country to work in Beijing, thus opening a new chapter in the development of the Chinese medical heritage of bone injury. Among them, Professor Shan Tianyu is China's leading bone injury scientist, founder of the China School of Osteology, and founder of the combination of osteopathic medicine and fracture therapy in Western China. The treatment of small-scale fractures, founded by Prof. Shan Tianyu and highly influential in academic circles at home and abroad, is still widely used in clinical practice today. Through theoretical and practical exploration, Professor Shan Tianyu proposed four main principles of Chinese medicine in conjunction with the treatment of fractures: muscular fusion, musculoskeletal fusion, internal and external fusion, physician collaboration, whose academic ideas set the direction for the development of osteopathic surgery and the establishment of trauma clinics.
