Department of Anesthesiology The Department of Anesthesiology was officially established in 1956. It was renamed the Anesthesia Surgery Center in 2008 and is now the Department of Anesthesiology of the First Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital. In 2019, more than 136,000 anesthesia cases were performed and nearly 60,000 surgeries were performed. The work scope covers 73 anesthesia operating rooms in the operating room, 32 anesthesia units outside the operating room and anesthesia outpatient clinics. The department is the PLA Institute of Anesthesiology, the PLA Anesthesia Medical Center, the national and Beijing resident training base, the Chinese Nursing Association/PLA/Beijing specialist nurse training base, the national drug clinical trial institution, the PLA Anesthesia and Resuscitation Professional Committee chairing unit, the fifth president unit of the Anesthesiology Physician Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the vice chairing unit of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the vice chairing unit of the Operating Room Professional Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association, etc. There are currently 26 higher vocational experts, nearly 400 professional and technical personnel, 2 doctoral supervisors, and 3 master's supervisors. The department undertakes more than 30 major scientific research tasks across the country and the army. Won 6 national and military major scientific research awards. Among them, there are 1 first-class military science and technology progress award, 4 second-class military science and technology progress awards, and 1 second-class military medical achievement award.In the past five years, it has obtained more than 10 national patents every year, including 1 national defense invention patent and 1 national invention patent. The main clinical features include: perioperative anesthesia safety management for elderly patients, application of computer technology in perioperative anesthesia, amnestic analgesia and slow induction endotracheal intubation technology, anesthesia management for organ transplant surgery, anesthesia management for trauma/critical and special patients, and management and monitoring of brain function during general anesthesia. Newly developed anesthesia management and pain treatment technologies include: anesthesia and surgical management in MRI surgery rooms, central target-controlled analgesic drug infusion system implantation, ultrasound-guided nerve block anesthesia technology, application of high-frequency ventilation in large airway space-occupying anesthesia management, robotic abdominal surgery Anesthesia management of local surgery, postoperative nerve block analgesia technology, clinical application of visual intubation technology, application of pulse variability in perioperative volume monitoring, application of minimally invasive cardiac output monitoring in the perioperative period, application of transesophageal ultrasound in monitoring perioperative hemodynamics, etc.
