Department of Geriatrics Department of Geriatrics The Department of Geriatrics of the Second Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital is the geriatric clinical research base of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases and the leading unit of the National Medical Consortium for Geriatric Chronic Diseases. The department currently has 72 medical staff, including 3 staff with senior professional titles and 5 staff with associate senior professional titles, forming a geriatric multidisciplinary team covering various sub-specialties such as cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, oncology, and neurology. The Department of Geriatric Medicine takes comprehensive geriatric assessment as its core technology and whole-person management as its core concept. It emphasizes multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment, and uses modern technologies such as wearable devices and 5G to form a modern geriatric disease management model that integrates acute disease treatment, chronic disease management, and functional maintenance in the elderly. It is committed to building a high-level geriatric medicine training base, specialized training base, and health care talent training base; a new technology, new business transformation platform, and a cutting-edge basic research platform for geriatric diseases. Currently, more than 10 collaborative network units have sent medical staff to the ward for further study.The department focuses on establishing a national elderly cohort study population, constructing a prevention and control technology system for common clinical problems such as perioperative risk management and control in the elderly, comprehensive management of comorbidities in the elderly, and the mechanisms and patterns of aging. As the project leader, the department undertakes a number of national and military-level projects such as the National Key Research and Development Plan and the National Natural Science Foundation, with a total project funding of 120 million yuan.
