A Practical Guide for Mongolian Patients Seeking Medical Care in China

1. Entry documents

  • Keep your passport and visa valid; check the stay limit, and apply for a multi-entry visa if you will travel back and forth.
  • Carry originals for entry, check-in, registration and payment. Take photos as a backup.
  • Bring only the amount of medicine you need for yourself; larger quantities require a prescription. Controlled substances are strictly prohibited.

2. Preparing your medical records

  • Bring previous reports, CT/MRI discs and medical history. Chinese or English translations save time and money.
  • List the medicines and doses you are currently taking, and tell your doctor about allergies and past conditions.
  • Write down the tests or treatments you would like first, so appointments run efficiently.

3. Accommodation and transport

  • Foreign nationals must be registered within 24 hours; a hotel front desk handles this for you.
  • Book ahead — rooms near hospitals sell out, and large hospitals are crowded, so allow time for queues.
  • Keep your passport and belongings safe, and save our staff's emergency contact number.

4. Costs and payment

  • Everything is self-paid: foreign patients do not use Chinese social insurance, and fees follow each hospital's published rates.
  • Bring RMB. Cash and local bank cards work best; foreign-currency card payment is limited.
  • Pay medical fees directly to the hospital. We provide booking, translation and transfer services and never collect treatment fees on your behalf.

5. Translation and communication

  • Describe symptoms accurately and ask for translation help whenever you do not understand.
  • Confirm medication instructions and follow-up dates, and keep every receipt.

6. Health precautions

  • Stay warm during travel; if you develop a fever or feel suddenly unwell, seek care locally without delay.

7. Visa extension and return

  • Apply for an extension at the local entry-exit administration well before your stay expires; we can point you to the office and the documents required.
  • Before leaving, collect your records, test results and prescriptions to continue treatment back home.
