Emergency Department

The Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

The Emergency Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine was established in the early 1960s. After more than 50 years of construction and development, it has become a modern emergency treatment center integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine, teaching, and research with strong medical strength, professional rescue teams, and advanced medical equipment. The emergency department has always put the needs of patients first and pursued professional services; it is currently responsible for emergency services in northern Tianjin. The emergency department has emergency pre-examination and triage, emergency diagnosis area, emergency rescue room, emergency observation room, debridement and suturing room, etc. It currently has 13 rescue beds and 50 observation beds. It is equipped with advanced and complete monitoring and rescue equipment, including ECG monitors, ventilators, defibrillators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation machines, gastric lavage machines, infusion pumps, etc., which provide a strong guarantee for the treatment of critical and severe patients. The department currently has 23 doctors, 30 nurses, 1 chief physician, 8 deputy chief physicians, 14 attending physicians, 14 with master's degrees and 6 with doctoral degrees. It is a member unit of Tianjin Emergency Quality Control Center. The department adopts a scientific and standardized integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment plan for critical and severe diseases. Currently, it has a chest pain center, a stroke center, and a trauma center (construction unit). During the rescue process of acute chest pain, acute cerebrovascular disease, shock, severe infection, pneumonia, heart failure, acute exacerbation of COPD, multiple organ failure, trauma, and poisoning, a green channel for emergency care is opened throughout the entire process to provide emergency first aid efficiently, quickly, and professionally to critical patients. The emergency department is currently responsible for the regional emergency center in northern Tianjin. It handles more than 20 public health emergencies every year, has an annual emergency department volume of 100,000 people, and provides annual rescue of 8,000 people. The emergency department has transformed from a "24-hour outpatient clinic + transfer station" model to an integrated "rescue + intensive care unit" model, basically realizing an emergency medical service system that integrates emergency admission, resuscitation, and observation to intensive care treatment and hospitalization for patients with urgent, critical and difficult diseases. The emergency rescue capability has been comprehensively improved. Under the unified deployment of the hospital leaders, a multidisciplinary collaboration model with emergency care as the platform and an integrated medical model with patient health as the core have been established. First aid teams, professional technical teams, and professional expert teams have been established to actively participate and effectively link multiple disciplines to protect the health of the people.Based on the 2016 national triage guidelines and combined with foreign grading standards, the emergency department of our hospital has formulated level 4 pre-examination standards. It is one of the first hospitals in Tianjin to implement the application of electronic triage systems. The complete pre-examination triage system and the rich triage experience of pre-examination nurses can collect the patient's vital signs and condition information at the first time, providing a basis for determining the priority of the patient's condition. Enable critical patients to receive timely treatment as soon as possible and ensure that limited emergency resources are effectively utilized. With the current development of society and the diversification and complexity of diseases, if we can know the emergency information of pre-hospital patients in advance and make emergency preparations in advance, we can save time and improve efficiency. Our hospital took the lead in establishing a pre-hospital emergency information notification system with the Tianjin Emergency Center (120). The 120 ambulance information can be immediately transmitted to the emergency department screen of our hospital. Medical staff can quickly understand the basic condition and prepare personnel and rescue items in advance according to the condition, thereby shortening the communication link and preparation time and improving rescue efficiency.
