Department of General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive discipline of traditional Chinese and Western medicine that integrates medicine, science and research. It is a key specialty construction unit of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the 12th Five-Year Plan and a key specialty of the Tianjin Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has the inheritance studio of Deng Heming, a nationally renowned traditional Chinese medicine expert, and the inheritance studio of Shi Jianhua, a nationally renowned traditional Chinese medicine expert. The department is equipped with domestic advanced diagnosis and treatment equipment, and gives full play to the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine to form specialized diagnosis and treatment plans and clinical pathways in the fields of abdominal surgery, thoracic surgery, thyroid and breast surgery, etc. The general surgery department currently has 49 beds, 31 medical staff, 9 with senior professional titles, 12 with intermediate professional titles, 15 with master's and doctoral degrees, 4 instructors from the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth batches of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine's academic experience inheritance work for veteran Chinese medicine experts, 8 inheritors of academic experience, 1 outstanding TCM clinical talent from the third batch of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 5 master's degree supervisors.The Department of General Surgery has undertaken 6 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 capital health development horizontal project, 1 Tianjin Binhai New Area joint research project, and more than 10 Tianjin Municipal Education Commission and Health Bureau projects. It has published more than 50 high-level papers and completed 9 academic books. It has won 7 provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievements, 1 third prize of the Chinese Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, applied for 10 national patents, and developed 4 innovative drugs.
