Clinical Laboratory Department

The history of the Laboratory Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital can be traced back to the Laboratory Department of Tianhe Hospital established in 1942. In 1956, Tianhe Hospital merged with China Textile Hospital, Posts and Telecommunications Hospital, and Enguang Hospital to establish Tianjin First Central Hospital. In 1992, the Laboratory Department moved to the Fukang Road Campus along with the hospital. Under the leadership of successive directors such as Huang Fanqiang and Peng Lin, the Laboratory Department gradually developed and expanded. In 2023, the main body of the Laboratory Department will be moved to Shuixi Campus, forming a development pattern of "two hospitals (Shuixi and Rehabilitation) coexisting, Shuixi taking the lead". The current department director is Director Mu Hong. Department Scale The Laboratory Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital is a clinical medical laboratory integrating medicine, teaching and research, with a total construction area of ​​more than 4,520 square meters, including 3,600 square meters in Shuixi Campus and 920 square meters in Fukang Campus. The Laboratory Department currently has 87 staff members, including 13 with doctorate degrees and 21 with senior professional titles. More than 200 testing projects have been carried out, and the average daily number of testing specimens exceeds 6,000.Department Honors With the support of leaders at all levels, all members of the department have worked together to obtain the honorary titles of National Key Clinical Specialty, Tianjin Key Clinical Discipline, National Bacterial Resistance Monitoring Network and Fungal Resistance Monitoring Network Provincial Central Unit, Chinese Laboratory Medicine Training Engineering Training Center, China Glycated Hemoglobin Consistency Plan (CGSP) Provincial Central Laboratory, etc. It has passed ISO15189 quality system accreditation, NGSP first-level laboratory certification, and has become the chairman unit of the Tianjin Medical Association and the affiliated unit of the Tianjin Clinical Laboratory Center. Scientific Research and Teaching The Laboratory Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital has established a scientific research promotion group and established a relatively complete scientific research management system. He undertakes a number of projects including the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Basic Science and Technology Resources Survey, the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau’s major biomedicine research projects, and the Tianjin Municipal Health Commission’s Science and Technology Fund. He publishes multiple SCI papers every year. Every year, it undertakes the theoretical and experimental teaching tasks of "Experimental Diagnostics" of Nankai University for seven years, "Labeled Immunoassay Technology" for graduate students of Tianjin Medical University, "Internal Medicine" for undergraduates of Tianjin Medical University, and "Molecular Biology Testing" of Medical College.
