Ultrasound Department

Tianjin First Central Hospital

The Ultrasound Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital is one of the largest ultrasonic departments in Tianjin. It is now a national-level ultrasound medical training base. It took the lead in establishing the first ultrasound remote consultation center in Tianjin to achieve multi-point consultation. The department ranks among the top in Tianjin in terms of comprehensive strength in medicine, teaching, and research. The department currently has 50 staff members and 37 physicians, of whom 51% have a master's degree or above, and 8 have senior professional titles or above. They also undertake important academic work in national and local societies and journals at all levels. Tang Ying, the subject leader, is the director of the Ultrasound Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital, chief physician, and master's tutor. She is a candidate for the National Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's Hundred Thousand Talents Project. She graduated from Tianjin Medical University. She studied at the Ultrasound Center of Thomas Jackson University in Philadelphia and the Organ Transplantation Institute of the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. She has held important positions in many academic groups and magazines. Committed to ultrasound diagnosis and interventional therapy, and has in-depth research in the field of organ transplantation ultrasound. In 1998, he took the lead in carrying out ultrasound diagnosis and treatment of organ transplantation. Combining advanced international experience and the characteristics of transplantation in my country, a routine for ultrasonic blood flow monitoring after transplantation was created. He was the first to propose the application of contrast-enhanced ultrasound quantitative analysis technology to the perfusion assessment of graft tissue, and it has been widely promoted in China. In 2002, the first radiofrequency ablation of liver cancer in Tianjin was completed. Later, it was combined with particle implantation and other technologies to treat tumor recurrence after transplantation and achieved good results. Be the first to carry out fusion imaging technology to characterize and accurately locate complex tumors. Invited to participate in the formulation of transplant ultrasound and other specifications of the Chinese Medical Association. He presided over the compilation of the "Transplantation Ultrasound Standards" of the Chinese Medical Association, and presided over the completion of more than ten provincial and municipal scientific research projects. Among them, the "Research on Intelligent Analysis and Monitoring and Early Warning Model of Multivariate Structured Database for Liver Transplantation Ultrasound" in 2021 was approved as a general project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 2018, the "Establishment of Clinical Large Database Standards for Liver Transplantation Ultrasound and Exploration Research on the Intelligent Assisted Diagnosis Model of Liver Blood Flow Ultrasound" project was approved to be supported by the Tianjin New Generation Artificial Intelligence Technology Major Special Project Millions of Scientific Research Funds. The results of the bureau's key research project "Experimental research on multimodal ultrasound evaluation of liver and kidney injury grading in DBCD status" won the second prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018. During this period, more than 40 papers in SCI and Chinese journals were published, and more than 20 new technologies were introduced. Nearly 20 new technologies have been introduced to fill gaps. During his work, he published more than 90 articles as the first author (or corresponding author), including nearly 40 articles in SCI and Chinese-level journals.Participated in writing or compiling more than ten books, including deputy editor-in-chief of "Diagnostic Ultrasound Atlas of Abdominal Surgery"; serving as an editorial board member of "Radiofrequency Ablation for Liver Cancer - Basics and Clinics", "Modern Clinical Liver Transplantation", "Contrast Ultrasound Imaging", "Clinical Pathology of Liver Transplantation", "Chinese Interventional Ultrasound", and "Guidelines for the Clinical Application of Ultrasound E-Imaging". He has taken the lead in organizing more than ten national continuing education projects. Train and guide dozens of master's degree students. Since the establishment of the department in 2008, Director Tang Ying has successively introduced new ultrasound technologies such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound, elastography, laparoscopic ultrasound, fusion imaging, and SMI, and has led various sub-professional groups to carry out cutting-edge organ function evaluation and tissue characterization examination projects such as various puncture tissue biopsies. At the same time, targeted examination items such as intraoperative (endoscopic) ultrasound, hand bone and joint, musculoskeletal ultrasound, gastrointestinal contrast imaging, pelvic floor ultrasound, fetal system ultrasound examination, fetal echocardiography, and right heart cavity contrast imaging are carried out. After nearly two decades of practice and accumulation, more than 200,000 ultrasound examinations and tissue biopsies have been completed on organ transplant patients, and nearly a thousand intraoperative ultrasounds are provided for transplant surgeries every year. Ultrasound plays an important and even irreplaceable role in preoperative evaluation, intraoperative evaluation, and postoperative monitoring of organ transplantation. On average, nearly a thousand cases of various types of ultrasound interventional diagnosis and treatment are completed every year, and the one-time puncture success rate is 100%. Elastography examination determines the pathological stage of liver fibrosis, monitors the progress of liver cirrhosis, and helps diagnose early liver cirrhosis. It can detect and locate malignant breast and thyroid tumors early, and its diagnostic accuracy reaches more than 80%. Carry out fetal system ultrasound examination and cooperate with the heart team to carry out fetal echocardiography examination, which effectively reduces the birth of malformed fetuses. Assisted the Department of Urology to successfully carry out more than 100 cases of holmium laser minimally invasive lithotripsy surgery. The department has seven sub-specialty groups, including organ transplantation group, interventional therapy group, obstetrics and gynecology group, superficial organ group, abdominal group, urology group and cardiovascular group. It is composed of young and middle-aged members led by experienced and skilled technical backbones. Each sub-professional group is well-established and distinctive. The ultrasonic diagnosis of organ transplantation enjoys a high reputation in the country. Ultrasound-guided interventional treatments such as radiofrequency ablation and particle implantation are the specialty of the department. A director's consultation day is set up every week, and the backbone of each sub-specialty business participates in the multidisciplinary joint consultation (MDT) to analyze special cases, promote the development of the ultrasound discipline to become more refined and specialized, and continuously broaden the breadth and depth of the discipline. The department has an average daily examination volume of about a thousand cases, and has more than 20 world-class ultrasound equipment, including Siemens-S2000, Sequoia512; GE-logiqE9, logiqE8; Philips-IU22, HATICHI-Ascendus, TOSHIBA-Aplio500, etc., as well as multi-functional color ultrasound portable machines, suitable for various clinical needs. It also has liver cancer radiofrequency ablation equipment, microwave therapy equipment, etc., providing safe and reliable support for clinical interventional treatment. The consultation center transmits the medical images on the ultrasound equipment in each clinic to the large-screen display equipment in the consultation center through a high-definition video encoding and decoding system. The director can selectively conduct two-way audio and video communication with doctors in each clinic through the matrix control platform, watch real-time ultrasound images, and conduct remote guidance and diagnosis. The department not only undertakes the basic theoretical teaching of ultrasound medicine in major medical schools in Tianjin, but also serves as a national standardized training base for ultrasound medicine residents. Since 2009, it has trained more than 50 students and successfully passed the graduation examination, and has won unanimous praise from employers.Responsible for organizing the standardized training of Tianjin residents every year and the final assessment of clinical practice skills in ultrasound medicine, which is the full affirmation of the "residential training" teaching work of the Department of Ultrasound by the Health Commission. Responsible for the clinical teaching of students at different levels, including graduate students, undergraduates, and training doctors, and has trained a large number of ultrasound medical professionals. The department has undertaken more than ten provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, and has won many scientific and technological progress awards. It has published nearly 100 papers in domestic and foreign medical journals, including more than 100 SCI-indexed and Chinese-level articles. Participated in the writing of more than ten academic monographs. Actively participate in academic exchanges and promotions, and host more than 20 national, provincial and municipal continuing education classes. Many people have further studies on new technologies at home and abroad. The department has participated in many out-of-hospital assistance activities and carried out free clinics and rounds across the country. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the department has sent medical staff to designated hospitals for recovery of COVID-19 patients and to support nucleic acid testing in the hospital. Ultrasound department personnel are also active in the city's volunteer team for nucleic acid screening. While vigorously carrying out medical teaching and research, the department also actively promotes the construction of department culture to further enhance team cohesion and the enthusiasm of members. From the selection of "Best Quality Clinic" and "Best Service Star" to the department annual meeting, team building and other activities, the department culture construction is carried out in an all-round and multi-angle manner, forming a department culture system with the characteristics and vitality of the ultrasound department. All staff in the department adhere to the tenet of "entrustment of life, quality first", regard medical quality as life, strive for excellence, strive for progress, and constantly climb to new heights!
