Family Planning Clinic
Tianjin First Central Hospital
The Family Planning Clinic of Tianjin First Central Hospital is a professional department that treats infertility and carries out assisted reproductive technology. The department was established in 1996 and is presided over by Director Wang Zhifen. Since 1997, it has been preparing to carry out assisted reproductive technology. In 1999 Since 8 years, gamete fallopian tube transplantation, in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) have been carried out successively. In 1999, the first gamete transplant baby in Tianjin and the first IVF-ET baby in our hospital were born. From 1998 to 2003, a total of 288 cases of gamete transplantation, IVF-ET and ICSI were completed. In December 2007, it was approved by the Tianjin Municipal Health Bureau and allowed to carry out artificial insemination technology with husband's sperm. Since Director Xu Fengqin took charge of the department at the end of 2012, the department has made great progress. The IVF laboratory was rebuilt in 2013. The laboratory is equipped with domestic first-class laminar flow purification facilities and a variety of advanced instruments and equipment. In April 2014, it was approved by the Tianjin Municipal Health Bureau and obtained the qualification to carry out trial operations of assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF-ET and ICSI.In June 2015, the Tianjin Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission organized experts to conduct a strict on-site review and approved the formal operation of our hospital’s in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer technology. After that, they all successfully passed regular expert inspections. Since 2014, more than 3,200 IVF-ET and ICSI egg retrieval cycles, more than 2,400 thaw transfer cycles, and more than 2,400 husband's sperm artificial insemination cycles have been completed. The pregnancy rates are all stable at a high level in China. The diagnosis and treatment projects currently carried out by the department are: 1. Assisted reproductive technology: in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), blastocyst culture, embryo freezing and thawing transfer, and intrauterine artificial insemination (IUI). 2. Diagnosis and treatment of female infertility: hysterosalpingography, sex hormone determination, chromosome examination, vaginal B-ultrasound to monitor follicular development, and drug ovulation induction treatment. 3. Diagnosis and treatment of male infertility: semen analysis, seminal plasma biochemistry; drug treatment of oligoasthenospermia; for azoospermia patients, testicular biopsy, epididymal puncture, testicular microsperm extraction and other surgical operations can be performed. If sperm is available, in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer technology can be performed.4. Reproductive genetics-related examinations and consultations: Genetic disease testing projects have been carried out, including karyotype analysis, single-gene genetic disease genetic testing, whole-exome sequencing, chromosomal microarray analysis, chromosomal microdeletion and microduplication detection and other genetic testing projects. The department currently has 5 doctors, 7 masters, and a total of 8 physicians, including 2 chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, 5 attending physicians; 6 laboratory technicians, including 1 chief technician; and 6 nurses.
