Organ Transplant Center

Tianjin First Central Hospital

The Organ Transplantation Center of Tianjin First Central Hospital was established in 1998. Under the leadership of Professor Shen Zhongyang, an expert in the field of organ transplantation under the National 863 Program, it has become a center in my country approved by the Ministry of Health to carry out liver, kidney, heart, pancreas, small intestine, lung, cornea and islet cell transplantation at the same time. It has liver transplantation department, kidney transplantation department, heart transplantation department, pediatric liver transplantation department, hepatobiliary surgery, cell transplantation department, transplantation care unit, hemodialysis center, transplantation laboratory and other disciplines. The Organ Transplantation Center is currently one of the largest organ transplantation centers in Asia and is also an organ transplantation center in mainland China included in ClinicalTransplants. The number and quality of transplant operations have led the country for many years. Nearly 10,000 liver transplant operations have been completed, accounting for about one-third of the total number of cases in the country. The survival rate after liver transplantation has reached an advanced level. In 1994, he completed the first long-term survival liver transplantation in my country and maintained the long-term survival record of domestic liver transplant patients for 11 years. The research has created a comprehensive prevention and treatment system for hepatitis B reinfection after liver transplantation for hepatitis B virus-related liver disease (the standard protocol currently used nationwide), which has reduced the hepatitis B reinfection rate after transplantation from more than 80% to less than 5%. The average survival period of liver transplant patients has been extended from 2-3 years to long-term survival, breaking through the bottleneck of liver transplantation in my country. At the same time, it assisted 80 medical units in 22 provinces and cities across the country to successfully perform the first liver transplant, making a pioneering contribution to promoting the routine clinical development of liver transplantation technology in my country. In 2014, Professor Shen Zhongyang won the title of “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Workers in the Country”, and the team he led won the “National Advanced Collective Award for Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents”. The organ transplant center of our hospital has many departments including liver transplantation department, kidney transplantation department, heart transplantation department, pediatric liver transplantation department, hepatobiliary surgery, pancreas transplantation department, cell transplantation department, transplantation care unit, hemodialysis center, transplantation laboratory, etc. It is an organ transplantation center in mainland China included in ClinicalTransplants.
