The Neurosurgery Department of Tianjin First Central Hospital was established in 1970. After more than fifty years and four generations of hard work, it has now developed into a well-known specialty integrating clinical care, teaching, scientific research and talent training. There are currently 37 doctors, including 16 with senior professional titles, 12 with intermediate professional titles, and 9 with junior professional titles. 9 people have doctoral degrees and 22 have master's degrees. The department currently has 150 open beds. It has emergency, outpatient, general wards and specialist intensive care units (NICU) in Fukang Road and Shuixi campuses. The department is equipped with advanced medical facilities such as advanced cerebral angiography (DSA) equipment, fluorescence surgical microscopes, ROSA robots, microendoscopes, multi-functional intraoperative electrophysiological monitors, mobile CT, multi-modal ventilators, and 128-lead electroencephalogram machines, providing strong equipment support for neurosurgery microsurgery and interventional surgeries. Several sub-professional disciplines rank at the forefront of the city and are one of the city's key specialties. Clinically, after long-term clinical practice, exploration and accumulation, neurosurgery is currently at the forefront of the city in the treatment of common diseases of the nervous system, critical and difficult diseases, with an annual operation volume of more than 2,000 cases, and is widely praised in Tianjin and neighboring provinces and cities.The department is divided into sub-specialties such as cerebrovascular intervention, cerebrovascular surgery, neuro-oncology, functional neurosurgery, spinal cord, neurological critical care, and neurological artificial intelligence rehabilitation. Such as endovascular interventional therapy (such as intracranial aneurysm, internal carotid artery stenosis, intracranial artery stenosis, cerebral arteriovenous malformation, dural arteriovenous fistula, traumatic carotid-cavernous sinus fistula, spinal vascular malformation, etc.), carotid endarterectomy, intracranial and extracranial vascular bypass surgery (such as internal carotid artery occlusion, middle cerebral artery stenosis, moyamoya disease, etc.), skull base neurosurgery (such as brainstem tumors, clival tumors, acoustic neuroma, jugular glomus tumor, complex aneurysm, etc.), ventricular endoscopic surgery The department has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery (such as pituitary tumors, obstructive hydrocephalus, clival tumors, etc.), stereotaxic and functional neurosurgery (such as deep brain stimulation implantation for Parkinson's disease, sudden tremor, Major's disease, awakening in sustained coma, microvascular decompression surgery for trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, normal pressure hydrocephalus, etc.). The department has rich experience in projects at the forefront of the current development of neurosurgery.In addition, as the neurosurgery department of a general hospital, our department often treats complex cases that are combined with other systemic diseases that cannot be treated in specialized hospitals, such as hematology, heart disease (brain and heart treatment), organ transplantation, tumor brain metastasis and other intracranial diseases, multiple injuries combined with severe craniocerebral injuries, involving ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oral surgery, and skull base invasive tumors combined with surgical resection. We give full play to the advantages of a general hospital and enable such patients to receive comprehensive treatment, which has won a good reputation for the hospital. On this basis, an efficient and smooth green channel for treatment has been formed for the integrated treatment of emergency thrombolysis and thrombectomy for acute large-area cerebral infarction, various severe craniocerebral trauma and various acute cerebral hemorrhages, and has achieved good therapeutic effects and won praise from the majority of patients. In terms of scientific research, the department has 2 master's degree supervisors and has carried out scientific research cooperation with many scientific research institutes such as Nankai University, Tianjin University Materials Science and Artificial Intelligence, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin Institute of Materia Medica, etc. Research areas include craniocerebral trauma, molecular biology treatment of brain tumors, targeted chemotherapy, medical polymer materials, etc. At present, the Department of Neurosurgery has completed and is undertaking a number of scientific research projects at the national, municipal and bureau levels.These include: 4 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, 2 key projects funded by the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and more than 10 bureau-level projects. As a cooperative unit, it has won 1 first-class Tianjin Scientific Progress Award, 2 third-class Tianjin Scientific Progress Awards, and more than 10 Tianjin scientific and technological achievements.
