Endocrinology Department

Tianjin First Central Hospital

Since its establishment in 1991, the Department of Endocrinology of Tianjin First Central Hospital has always maintained an all-round development concept, taking "all things patient-centered" as its service tenet, and "based on our hospital, serving Tianjin, facing the whole country, and striving to be first-class" as its development direction and work goals. It keeps pace with the times, never forgets its original intention, and continues to increase its efforts in academic construction. All employees are working hard with good professional standards and style to contribute to the "Healthy China 2030 Planning Outline." The department is the president unit of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Physicians Branch of the Tianjin Medical Doctor Association and the Tianjin Diabetes Prevention and Treatment Association; the department is the founding director unit of the National Standardized Metabolic Disease Management Center and has the National Standardized Metabolic Disease Management Center (MMC); the department is the first identification center for special diseases in Tianjin diabetes outpatient clinics and has opened With 10 years of clinical experience, it has been the first stop for patients in Tianjin. The undergraduate department implements "holiday-free clinics" throughout the year, and has endocrinology specialist clinics, general outpatient clinics, thyroid specialist clinics, 2 multidisciplinary joint clinics, and Internet clinics. The undergraduate ward has a total of 54 beds and treats about 1,600 patients every year. The undergraduate department has strong software and hardware support for endocrinology and metabolism-related research, including the discipline's own high-level clinical and scientific research teams, with solid professional theory and strong technical force. There are currently 6 chief physicians, 8 deputy chief physicians, 7 attending physicians, 1 chief nurse, 1 deputy chief nurse, and several nurses in charge. Research directions include pituitary disease, thyroid disease, adrenal disease, gonadal disease, diabetes and its complications, gout, obesity, osteoporosis, parathyroid disease, gestational diabetes and thyroid disease and other endocrine and metabolic diseases. In particular, we have accumulated rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its acute and chronic complications, such as diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, diabetic foot, etc., and achieved good prevention and treatment results. At present, under the leadership of Professor Jiang Xia, the clinical medicine of the department is in an advanced position in the country, and basic medical research is also being carried out extensively and in-depth. The department currently has three veteran experts in endocrinology: Professor Yu Guoning, Professor He Xiuling, and Professor Feng Shuting. The research fields involve epidemiology, clinical medicine and basic medicine at all levels. In order to better serve the majority of diabetic patients, the Department of Endocrinology has established a free "Diabetes Health Education School" since 1997. So far, 25 sessions have been held, and thousands of diabetic patients have benefited from the school. The teachers are professors and directors with rich clinical experience in the Department of Endocrinology. Specialists systematically explain to diabetic patients the occurrence, development, and outcome of diabetes, acute and chronic complications of diabetes, macrovascular and microvascular disease, neuropathy, etc., as well as knowledge on diet, exercise, drug treatment, nursing, etc., and organize patient exchanges with rich and colorful teaching methods. Through systematic education, patients can master the basic theory, treatment, nursing and preventive health care of diabetes, and enhance their confidence and courage to overcome the disease. The department has launched a free bimonthly newspaper called "Diabetes Association and Patients", with more than 20,000 copies issued in each issue. It introduces the latest developments and basic knowledge about diabetes in simple and easy-to-understand terms, benefiting tens of thousands of patients and primary care physicians. The "United Nations Diabetes Day Large Free Clinic" in our department has been held for more than 10 years, and the good benefits of popularizing diabetes education have been increasingly demonstrated in recent years.During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, it is planned to leverage the grand strategies of "precision medicine" and "translational medicine" and focus on "development of precision medical diagnosis technology for endocrine and metabolic diseases, evidence-based and translational medicine research", integrate multi-disciplines and multi-platforms, continuously improve medical processes and innovative technology platforms, and provide excellent medical technical services to the people. Research directions include various metabolic and endocrine diseases such as pituitary disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, gout, obesity, osteoporosis, parathyroid disease and bone disease, adrenal disease and gonadal disease. In particular, we have accumulated rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and its acute and chronic complications, such as diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar nonketotic coma, hypoglycemia, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, diabetic foot, etc., and achieved good therapeutic effects, allowing patients to quickly improve their condition in a short period of time, achieve blood sugar standards, and receive diabetes education at the same time. We attach great importance to basic and clinical research work. Our laboratory equipment is advanced and can measure various hormones of the endocrine system, as well as examine diabetes and its complications.
