Otolaryngology Department

The Department of Otolaryngology of Tianjin People's Hospital was established in 1953. It is one of the departments currently specializing in the treatment of otorhinolaryngology diseases in China (Tianjin). Professor Liu Shen'er, a famous otolaryngology expert in my country and a graduate of the old Peking Union Medical College Hospital before the founding of the People's Republic of China, is the founder of the undergraduate program. Later, Professor Liu Hongyuan, a famous otolaryngology expert, served as the department director. Under the leadership of the two experts, after nearly 50 years of construction and development, the discipline continued to grow and mature. In 1987, it took the lead in carrying out surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (snoring) in China, and its academic strength was significantly enhanced. In that year, it was approved by the Tianjin Municipal Health Bureau to establish the only snoring diagnosis and treatment center in Tianjin. The medical team of the Department of Otolaryngology: Currently, the department has 45 beds and 23 medical staff, including 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 5 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, 3 with master's degrees, 5 supervisors of master's students, and 8 master's students. The talent echelon is reasonably constructed. More than 1,500 cases of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery are completed every year. The head nurse of the otolaryngology department is proficient in professional nursing theories and has accumulated a lot of experience in long-term practice, leading a professional nursing team.The diseases treated include: otology and audiology diseases, sinus and allergy diseases, pharynx science and snoring, laryngology and voice medicine, head and neck tumor surgery and other diseases. The annual outpatient visits exceed 50,000, and the annual inpatient surgeries are 1,500. The hardware facilities of the otolaryngology department: currently have ABR, OAE, pure tone hearing threshold and acoustic impedance audiology examination equipment, operating microscope and ear microsurgery instruments, CO2 laser instrument, polysomnography sleep apnea monitoring system, advanced CPAP treatment room and systematic nasal endoscopic surgical instruments. The scientific research team of the Department of Otolaryngology: Many experts in the Department of Otolaryngology serve as special reviewers and editorial boards for famous domestic and foreign magazines. He has published more than 100 papers in domestic core journals such as "Chinese Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery", "Journal of Clinical Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery", "Chinese Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery", "Journal of Audiology and Speech Diseases", "Chinese Journal of Otolaryngology with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine", "Tianjin Medicine" and other domestic core journals.
