The Hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery Department of Tianjin People's Hospital, established in 2004, is the earliest professional hernia surgery department in China and currently the only professional hernia surgery department in Tianjin. Its clinical and academic level is in a leading position in the field of hernia and abdominal wall surgery in China. Currently, the department has 10 beds and 4 doctors. 2 deputy chief physicians. 2 on-the-job doctoral students. More than 800 hernia and abdominal wall surgeries are performed every year. The subject leader, Director Wang Yinlong, has been engaged in clinical work in general surgery for more than 20 years. He has accumulated rich experience in abdominal surgery, especially the treatment of hernias and abdominal wall diseases. He has completed more than 4,000 cases of various hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstruction surgeries. As the earliest professional hernia surgery in China and currently the only professional hernia surgery in Tianjin, the Hernia Surgery Department of People's Hospital has performed "tension-free hernia repair" on nearly 4,000 hernia patients since its establishment five years ago. 95% of them were performed under local anesthesia, and more than 60% were completed in the day surgery department. Its academic status in the country is gradually improving: it has hosted 5 national academic seminars and training courses. The department has completed an epidemiological investigation project and more than 10 papers and reviews.
