Nephrology Department

The Department of Nephrology of Tianjin People's Hospital was established in 1999. Its predecessor was the Transplantation Surgery Department of Tianjin Second Central Hospital. Under the leadership of the famous expert Professor Long Gang, it has developed comprehensively in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and other aspects, and has become one of the largest kidney disease diagnosis and treatment centers in Tianjin. The Department of Nephrology has a professional medical team. Currently, the department has 40 beds and 14 physicians, including 2 professors and chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, 7 attending physicians, 4 residents, 1 doctoral candidate, and 6 master's degree candidates. The head nurse of the department has gone to Peking University People's Hospital, Beijing Military Region General Hospital, and Nanjing Military Region General Hospital to learn professional nursing knowledge of kidney disease. She has accumulated a lot of experience in caring for kidney disease patients in long-term practice and has led a professional nursing team. The Department of Nephrology mainly treats patients with various primary kidney diseases, secondary kidney diseases, acute and chronic renal insufficiency, kidney transplant surgery, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The annual outpatient volume is more than 10,000, and the annual hemodialysis outpatient volume is 17,000. It treats nearly 1,000 inpatients every year.With the support of the hospital and based on the current epidemiological situation, the Department of Nephrology has set up a diabetic nephrology specialist clinic. Together with the Department of Endocrinology, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiology, it provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plans for patients with diabetes combined with heart disease, nephropathy and other vascular neuropathy, which has been well received by the majority of patients. The Department of Nephrology actively engages in academic exchanges with well-known hospitals at home and abroad. It has invited well-known domestic and foreign experts to Tianjin for many times to give lectures on academic and clinical experience exchanges. It maintains a long-term friendly relationship with Peking University People's Hospital and actively cooperates with national first-class laboratories to conduct research on the "impact of high-flux dialysis on the quality of life of long-term hemodialysis patients" and many other topics.
