The surgical ICU of Tianjin Hospital has many common characteristics regarding the pathophysiological processes of different types of patients. The professional features brought about by treating critically ill patients as a special group and giving them specialized research and independent management have shown great advantages. Therefore, ICUs in hospitals at all levels have developed rapidly in recent years. Our hospital is a large regional medical center featuring orthopedics, trauma emergency, vascular surgery, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine and other disciplines. The establishment of a specialized and professional platform for surgical critically ill patients must be an important part of it. The surgical ICU ward is located in the west area on the 4th floor of Building B of the inpatient department. It is connected to the operating room through a special passage. Postoperative patients can enter the surgical ICU directly from the operating room. The ward currently has 21 beds and is equipped with laminar flow purification conditions. The surgical ICU is equipped with multi-functional pendants, GE monitors, ventilators, blood gas analyzers, fiberoptic bronchoscopes, bedside hemofiltration machines, thromboelastography and other equipment. It can carry out various modes of mechanical ventilation, blood purification, nutritional support, percutaneous tracheotomy and deep vein puncture catheterization and other intensive care treatment measures. Provide close monitoring, accurate assessment and timely and effective treatment for critically ill surgical patients. The ward mainly serves surgery-related departments, and its treatment scope includes: elderly patients undergoing general anesthesia surgery;Surgical patients with serious underlying diseases; high-risk surgical patients; patients with severe intraoperative and postoperative complications; patients with multiple trauma requiring multidisciplinary collaborative treatment; patients with changes in condition in general wards who require intensive care.
