After more than 50 years of development and the joint efforts of several generations of surgeons, the Department of Ulcer and Peripheral Vascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed specialized medicines and unique treatment methods for diabetic foot gangrene, peripheral vascular disease, various types of ulcers, osteomyelitis, sinus tracts, burns, breast disease, hemorrhoids and other diseases. Among them, diabetic foot gangrene is a key specialty diagnosis and treatment base in Tianjin. Since 1987, the ulcer specialist department has admitted more than 3,000 patients with severe diabetic foot gangrene. It has done a lot of long-term clinical work and in-depth basic research on diabetic foot gangrene, accumulated rich and systematic treatment experience, and formed a standardized diagnosis and treatment method that combines internal and external medicine, Chinese and Western medicine, surgery and external treatment with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics. Its clinical and basic research has reached the domestic leading level. The project "Treatment of Severe Diabetic Foot Gangrene with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine" has been rated as a national-level scientific research achievement and a national "Eighth Five-Year Plan" scientific and technological achievement. In 1994, he won the second prize of the Tianjin Municipal Health Bureau's Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and in 1995, he won the third prize of the Tianjin Municipal Scientific and Technological Progress Award. In 1998, surgery was identified as one of the first batch of key specialties in Tianjin. Long-term medical practice has accumulated rich experience in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease and severe ulcers.The systematic and comprehensive treatment of thromboangiitis obliterans, arteriosclerosis obliterans, lower limb venous thrombosis, lower limb varicose veins and other diseases using traditional Chinese medicine combined with traditional Chinese and Western medicine has achieved good results. Inheriting and innovating traditional Chinese medicine surgical therapies, it has good effects on the treatment of ulcers in various parts, especially severe ulcers. Breast disease treatment includes infectious diseases of the breast, such as mastitis, galactorrhea, breast fat necrosis, breast tuberculosis, ductitis, benign and malignant breast tumors, breast hyperplasia, cystic breast hyperplasia, gynecomastia, etc. We carry out breast disease surgeries, combine traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatments, and undertake classroom teaching and clinical teaching at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Treatment of anorectal diseases includes anal diseases such as hemorrhoids, fistulas, anal fissures, and rectal mucosal prolapse, as well as constipation, inflammatory diseases of the large intestine, colorectal tumors, and other large intestinal diseases. Especially for advanced hemorrhoids, impacted hemorrhoids, and complex anal fistulas, traditional surgery combined with unique topical and external Chinese medicines has the characteristics of fast pain relief, swelling, hemostasis, and healing. In addition to traditional Chinese medicine treatment, PPH surgery and colorectal tumor surgery are performed.At present, the department has 11 chief physicians, 10 deputy chief physicians and 4 intermediate medical technicians, including 8 master's degree students. It has more than 60 beds, decades of experience in comprehensive treatment of specialized diseases, dozens of internal and external pharmaceutical preparations, and a relatively large patient base in Tianjin City and North China and Northeast China. After years of hard work, he has won 2 national-level scientific research projects and 5 municipal-level related projects. The 2003 National Natural Science Foundation project "Research on the Correlation between Diabetic Foot Syndrome Differentiation and Pathology" was funded by the 2004 National Natural Science Foundation.
