Endocrinology Department

The Department of Endocrinology was founded in 1998. It is now the largest integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment center for endocrine and metabolic diseases in Tianjin. It is a key specialty of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the 12th Five-Year Plan, a national advantageous specialty of traditional Chinese medicine, and a construction unit of Tianjin’s advantageous key specialty of traditional Chinese medicine. It assumes the responsibilities of the leading unit of the Tianjin Traditional Chinese Medicine Endocrinology Specialty Alliance, and has been approved for national qualifications such as "National Inheritance Studio of Famous Veteran Traditional Chinese Medicine Experts" and "National Clinical Evaluation Center for New Traditional Chinese Medicines". The department currently has 40 medical staff, including 13 with senior professional titles, 10 with doctorate degrees, and 11 with master's and doctoral degrees. The team brings together high-end talents such as famous old Chinese medicine practitioners in the country, famous Chinese medicine doctors in Tianjin, and young famous Chinese medicine doctors, forming a composite echelon of "inheritance of famous doctors + integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine". The clinical scale ranks among the top in the country, with 11 specialist outpatient clinics, a diabetes chronic disease and specialty identification center, 48 open beds, an annual outpatient volume of nearly 120,000, and an annual discharge of 1,500 people. The specialty focuses on the three major areas of diabetes and complications, thyroid disease, and obesity and metabolic diseases, and opens specialized outpatient clinics. It innovates the "Huazhuo and detoxification method" to regulate glucose and lipid metabolism, the "solid-benefit method" for diabetic nephropathy, and the "Daoyang Bi method" for painful neuropathy and other staged diagnosis and treatment systems;Based on the theory of endotoxicity, we carry out coordinated treatment of thyroid disease with traditional Chinese and Western medicine to reduce drug side effects; integrate traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, acupoint catgut embedding and other technologies to intervene in obesity and metabolic abnormalities; carry out more than 10 external TCM treatments such as moxibustion, acupoint application, traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and washing, combined with modern technologies such as microwaves and infrared rays to form a "same internal and external treatment" model to promote the innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine for metabolic and endocrine diseases.
