Pediatrics Department

The Pediatric Department of the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University has 36 beds and 55 medical staff, including 1 chief physician, 6 deputy chief physicians, 1 master's student tutor, and 14 doctors with master's degrees. He is good at diagnosing and treating common pediatric diseases and frequently-occurring diseases. In 1978, the first asthma clinic in Tianjin was established. It presided over two childhood asthma epidemic surveys in Tianjin and standardized the diagnosis and treatment of more than 10,000 cases of childhood asthma. It won the third prize of the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission’s Science and Technology Progress Award. The department has specialized outpatient clinics for pediatric desensitization treatment, endocrinology and sleep snoring. It is a national leader in the diagnosis and treatment of infant wheezing, childhood asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, food allergy and other allergic diseases, as well as pediatric sleep disorders, chronic cough, allergen detection and evaluation, and mite desensitization treatment. The department has developed its own advantages and characteristics in the treatment of pediatric asthma and allergic diseases. It is the earliest asthma specialist clinic opened in Tianjin, the only national "asthma specialist clinic" in the field of pediatrics in Tianjin, and the only desensitization treatment center in the field of pediatrics in Tianjin. In 2011, it was named the National “Healthy Respiratory Center” by the Respiratory Branch and Pediatric Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. In 2015, the "Tianjin Medical University Children's Respiratory and Asthma Research Center" was established.The Tianjin section, which hosted the national epidemiological survey of children aged 0-14 in 2000 and 2010, obtained valuable information on the prevalence of asthma in children in our city, laying a solid foundation for the prevention and treatment of childhood asthma in the region. The department is equipped with advanced equipment such as pulmonary function meters from Germany's Kangxun and Italy's Basel, Sweden's Pharmacia allergen detectors, and Naculan nitric oxide detectors, which provide a solid guarantee for accurate diagnosis and treatment. The department has testing capabilities such as routine ventilation pulmonary function test, baby bump pulmonary function test, bronchodilation test, bronchial provocation test, UNICAP method (the gold standard for testing) allergen testing, allergen skin prick test, and exhaled nitric oxide testing. It is at the national advanced level in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases such as childhood asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema, food allergy, sleep disorders, and chronic cough in children, as well as allergen detection and evaluation, and mite desensitization treatment, benefiting many children. He has conducted a lot of clinical and scientific research on difficult respiratory diseases and accumulated rich experience in diagnosis and treatment.
