The Laboratory Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital has a long history and is one of the departments that has grown with Tianjin Children's Hospital.
There was a laboratory in the original Maternity and Infant Hospital, the predecessor of Tianjin Children's Hospital.
The laboratory department in the modern sense was founded in 1951. In that year, the biochemistry room and the bacteriology room were established. There are a total of 6 people in the department. The only inspection instruments are 3 microscopes, an EEL photoelectric colorimeter, a ten thousandth balance, a bacterial incubator and a refrigerator.
After seventy years of hard work and hard work of several generations, the Laboratory Department is now a laboratory accredited by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS). It has become a modern comprehensive clinical medical laboratory that integrates high-quality laboratory personnel, a full range of professional categories, advanced instruments and equipment, perfect quality management, and high scientific research capabilities.
The laboratory departments of Beichen Longyan and Hexi Machang hospitals have five professional groups: clinical basic testing (clinical testing), clinical biochemistry, clinical immunity (including HIV primary screening laboratory), clinical microbiology and blood bank. The clinical testing group is divided into outpatient laboratories, emergency laboratories, fever laboratories and PCR laboratories.
The department has a total of 128 professional and technical personnel of various types, including 113 regular employees, 13 dispatched employees, and 2 retired employees.
Among the 113 regular employees, 1 has a doctorate, 61 have a master's degree, 35 have a bachelor's degree, and 15 have a college or technical secondary school degree.
The staff have high professional quality, are proficient in the work skills of this position, have a high sense of responsibility and professionalism, and can complete various inspection tasks with high quality.
On the basis of completing clinical work, the department also actively carries out a series of teaching and scientific research. It has become a national testing center for clinical trials of pediatric drugs and a training and internship base for testing majors. In the past five years, it has published more than 10 SCI articles and more than 20 core medical journals.
All employees in the department work together and their work has been recognized by various departments. They have won many titles such as "Tianjin Municipal Health Commission Model Employee Family", "The First Tianjin Most Beautiful Inspection Team", "Tianjin Municipal Health System Advanced Grassroots Party Organization", "Tianjin Municipal Health Commission May 4th Red Flag League Branch", etc.
The testing methods are diverse and complete, and it continues to open up new areas of experimental diagnosis. It has provided more than 300 testing items for clinical use, including testing items with characteristics for children.
In order to improve the service efficiency of outpatient and emergency windows, a series of rapid peripheral blood and urine testing projects have been carried out. Parents can get relevant results in 30-40 minutes, which greatly facilitates children.
The number of specimens tested in laboratory departments has increased year by year, with a growth rate of 944% in ten years.
The growth in testing volume has not reduced the quality of testing. From the "Medical Laboratory Management Measures" and related laws and regulations followed by the older generation to the operation of today's ISO15189 medical laboratory quality and capability accreditation system, it has always protected the quality of testing and ensured the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Inspection quality is controlled by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the Tianjin Inspection Center. It has strict laboratory and indoor quality control management, and provides high-quality clinical services under the guidance of the policy of "Sincerity, Accuracy, and Expertise".
