Anesthesiology Department

The Anesthesiology Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital is a clinical department integrating clinical practice, scientific research and teaching.

Currently, there are 37 people working in the department, responsible for the anesthesia work in Longyan and Machang hospitals.

There are 34 anesthesiologists and 3 nursing staff in the department, including 2 with senior professional titles, 10 with associate senior professional titles, 10 with intermediate professional titles, and 15 with junior professional titles;

There are 2 people with doctorate degrees and 19 people with master's degrees.

There are 21 operating rooms in the two hospitals. Each operating room is equipped with a surgical anesthesia information management system, imported anesthesia machines, multi-functional monitors, infusion pumps, intravenous infusion pumps, and blanket warming machines.

In addition, it also has a variety of advanced instruments and equipment such as portable ultrasound, fiber bronchoscopy, video laryngoscope, anesthesia depth monitor, muscle relaxation monitor, target-controlled infusion pump, liquid warming device, etc., which provides a solid material foundation for completing anesthesia for various emergency and dangerous surgeries and ensuring the safety of children during surgery.

Through the continuous efforts and development of general practitioners, the Anesthesiology Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital has become a children's surgical anesthesia center with comprehensive technology and an annual anesthesia capacity of more than 20,000 cases in North China.

We are able to complete a variety of pediatric surgical anesthesia, with children ranging in age from premature infants to teenagers. The scope of anesthesia includes pediatric general surgery, urology, neonatal surgery, orthopedics, emergency surgery, minimally invasive surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, burns and plastic surgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, dermatology, various interventional treatments, etc. We have rich experience in difficult and severe anesthesia, anesthesia for low-weight premature infants, day surgery anesthesia and laparoscopic surgery anesthesia.

It has formed special anesthesia for pediatric cardiovascular, low-birth-weight neonates, critically ill children, hepatobiliary surgery, and minimally invasive pediatric surgery. It has developed special technologies such as difficult airway, one-lung ventilation, B-ultrasound-guided nerve block, and arteriovenous puncture. It is also responsible for the post-operative recovery room and pediatric postoperative analgesia.

The department has been responsible for the pediatric anesthesia teaching tasks of Tianjin Medical University's anesthesia and pediatrics majors. It has successfully held various pediatric anesthesia follow-up education project classes for many times. It was awarded the "Pediatric Anesthesia Training Base" by the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the "Pediatric Anesthesia Specialist Training Base" by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. We have jointly established the national "Anesthesiology Resident Standardized Training Base" with the Anesthesiology Department of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. It is also one of the training bases for Tianjin's urgently needed anesthesia talents, and accepts anesthesiologists from all over the country for further study throughout the year.
