Tianjin Children's Hospital

The General Surgery Department (minimally invasive direction, etc.) of Tianjin Children's Hospital was founded in 1999. It was formerly known as the Pediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery Department and is one of the birthplaces of minimally invasive pediatric surgery in my country.

At the beginning of the establishment of the department, the department used laparoscopic technology as the main treatment method, focusing on common diseases in children such as acute abdomen, to cultivate professional and technical talents for laparoscopic surgery.

This discipline has carried out a series of research on acute abdomen and peritoneal adhesions. The "Research on Staged Comprehensive Therapy to Prevent and Treat Peritoneal Adhesives" in collaboration with the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine won the third prize of Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award in 2007.

On the basis of applying minimally invasive techniques to treat pediatric surgical diseases, the department is committed to improving precision laparoscopic techniques.

Starting from minor surgeries such as pediatric hernia, hydrocele, and appendicitis, treatment specifications for laparoscopic surgeries were formulated and treatment and surgical methods were clarified.

After the clinic opened in the Machang campus, in order to meet the needs of the two hospitals, the name of the department was changed to Machang Comprehensive Surgery (minimally invasive direction).

The department relies on minimally invasive technology and applies traditional laparotomy to minimally invasive surgery. Department staff are proficient in laparoscopy, colonoscopy, and gastroscopy, which has greatly improved the surgical treatment methods for pediatric surgical diseases.

At present, the main treatment scope of the department is pediatric trauma, acute abdomen, common pediatric diseases, solid tumors, etc., including liver and spleen trauma, acute appendicitis, cholecystitis and gallbladder stones, choledochal cyst, splenomegaly, Meckel's diverticulum, intestinal duplication malformation, and congenital macronodule. Intestinal, ovarian or fallopian tube cysts, varicocele, intra-abdominal and retroperitoneal tumors, omental cysts, mesenteric lymphangioma, intussusception, phimosis, inguinal hernia, hydrocele, gastric volvulus, splenic volvulus, scrotal emergency, intestinal polyps, foreign bodies in the digestive tract, etc.

Diagnosis and treatment team: The department currently has 1 chief physician, 5 deputy chief physicians, 3 attending physicians, and 6 resident physicians, 12 of whom have medical master's degrees or above.
