General Surgery Department

Tianjin Children's Hospital

The General Surgery Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital is one of the earliest surgical specialties established in our hospital and has strong technical force.

After several generations of efforts, clinical expertise has become increasingly sophisticated, and examination and treatment methods have become richer.

In addition to traditional laparotomy, various minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and electronic fiberoptic colonoscopy are also carried out to meet the needs of treating various children's surgical diseases.

At present, the General Surgery Department has 68 beds and 17 specialists, forming a complete team of doctors, masters, and bachelors in clinical medicine, chief physicians, attending physicians, and resident physicians.

Currently, it has 1 doctoral supervisor, 4 chief physicians, 1 deputy chief physician, 12 attending physicians and resident physicians.

Professor Zhan Jianghua, director of the department, has gone to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Children's Hospital of Chicago, Seattle Children's Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong for training and study.

Apply advanced treatment concepts and clinical technologies at home and abroad to the clinical treatment process to further rationalize the medical diagnosis and treatment process.

With the continuous improvement of the diagnosis and treatment level of our department and the demands of parents, we have gradually changed our concept and focused on the outpatient treatment of children's diseases. The outpatient clinic is equipped with a chief physician to attend consultations every day. In addition to the regular general surgery clinic, we also open tumor clinics, hemangioma clinics, lymph node disease and other specialized clinics.

For children with surface tumors, phimosis and other diseases, day surgeries are gradually being carried out to shorten the hospitalization time.

At present, the General Surgery Department is in a leading position in the country in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hepatobiliary surgery, oncological surgery, Hirschsprung disease, and anorectal malformations.

Director Zhan Jianghua serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the Pediatric Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the leader of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Group of the Pediatric Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association.

In terms of basic research on hepatobiliary and digestive tract malformations in children, he has undertaken a number of scientific research projects at the national, provincial and municipal levels, and published more than 300 related papers at home and abroad, 31 of which were included in SCI.

Our department is currently responsible for the training of students and residents at the clinical base, as well as basic and clinical teaching for doctoral students and postgraduates from Tianjin Medical University and Tianjin Nankai University School of Medicine.

By 2022, it has trained more than 50 doctoral students and master's students.

All the doctors in the General Surgery Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital have been working tirelessly to serve the majority of children with the best technology and the highest quality treatment concepts, so that parents and children can rest assured and satisfied in our department.
