The Department of Gastroenterology of Tianjin Children's Hospital was established in 1995. It is established in Longyan and Machang campuses. It is a four-in-one professional department integrating specialist outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, gastrointestinal motility rooms and digestive endoscopy centers. It is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and standardized management of common, rare, and difficult diseases of the children's digestive system.

There are a total of 62 beds in the wards of the two hospitals;

There are a total of 60 medical staff, 25 doctors, 35 nurses, currently there are 6 chief physicians and 8 attending physicians;

The gastroenterology clinic is open on holidays;

Both hospitals are equipped with digestive endoscopy centers and gastrointestinal motility rooms.

The main diseases diagnosed and treated include acute and chronic diarrhea and refractory diarrhea in children, acute and chronic gastritis, duodenitis, esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Helicobacter pylori infection, peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, esophageal stenosis, achalasia, colon Polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gastrointestinal disease, foreign bodies in the digestive tract, liver damage, cholestatic liver disease, portal hypertension, acute cholangitis, pancreatitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, food-allergic gastroenteropathy, malnutrition and other digestive system diseases;

In addition, he also has rich experience in diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases, such as Alagille syndrome, progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis, litrin deficiency, hepatolenticular degeneration, glycogen storage disease, congenital bile acid synthesis disorder, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome and other diseases.

Various sub-professional diagnosis and treatment forms include specialists, general diagnosis, and Internet hospitals, which can meet the individual needs of patients for initial diagnosis and follow-up diagnosis.

The Department of Gastroenterology has two examination and treatment rooms: gastrointestinal motility room and digestive endoscopy room.

The gastrointestinal motility room can perform electrogastrogram, anorectal manometry, 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring, 13C breath test HP detection and other examinations.

The digestive endoscopy room can perform electronic gastroscopy, colonoscopy (normal and painless) and capsule endoscopy. In particular, the implementation of capsule endoscopy marks the improvement of the entire digestive tract examination system and lays the foundation for more endoscopic treatments in the future.

Endoscopic treatment includes polypectomy, gastrointestinal foreign body removal, nasojejunal tube insertion, titanium clip hemostasis, balloon dilation of esophageal stenosis, balloon dilation of pyloric stenosis and other highly difficult third- and fourth-level digestive endoscopic diagnosis and treatment operations.

Since our hospital became a standardized training base for residents, we have continuously strengthened the teaching level. Many key teachers have completed the "Guidelines for Standardized Training and Teaching Activities for Resident Physicians" to interpret the teacher training classes.

The "Tianjin Medical Association Children's Digestive System Diseases Forum" hosted every year promotes academic exchanges between Tianjin and other provinces.
