Respiratory Department
Tianjin Children's Hospital
The Department of Respiratory Medicine of Tianjin Children's Hospital was established in the 1950s.
It is the first in China to carry out clinical research on chronic respiratory diseases in children, and uses fiberoptic bronchoscopy, electron microscopy and other methods to conduct research on the relationship between chronic respiratory diseases in children and dysfunction of respiratory mucosa and cilia, providing a basis for economical and effective control of chronic respiratory diseases in children.
After entering the 21st century, the Department of Respiratory Medicine has paid attention to the relationship between environmental changes, allergic diseases and chronic respiratory diseases in children. It has continuously participated in national asthma epidemiological surveys, organized multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases, carried out specific immunotherapy and related testing, and enriched diagnosis and control methods.
It was the first to introduce pulse oscillation technology and pulmonary function technology in the pediatric community in the country. It was the first to complete the determination of normal IOS values for children aged 3 to 14 years old in Tianjin. It has continuously held national continuing education projects. The testing level of ventilatory function and airway responsiveness ranks among the top in the country. It is a training unit for children's pulmonary function assessment in Tianjin.
Pulmonary interventional treatment represented by bronchoscopy was carried out earlier, and a series of bronchoscopy and treatment methods such as bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cytological analysis, etiological examination, laser, and condensation have greatly enriched the treatment methods for children's lung diseases.
It has formed a series of research on severe respiratory diseases in children such as severe pneumonia, refractory mycoplasma pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, etc., and many research results have been published in domestic and foreign journals.
We treat a large number of difficult and critical cases such as allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, pulmonary complications of immunodeficiency diseases, primary immobile ciliary syndrome, bronchopulmonary malformations, pulmonary vascular malformations, idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderinosis, interstitial lung disease, connective tissue disease lung damage, lung and pleural involvement caused by systemic diseases, various types of pulmonary edema, pneumothorax, chronic cough, etc., and participate in the formulation of relevant consensus and guidelines.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine is the city's designated department for the diagnosis and treatment of childhood tuberculosis. It collaborates closely with the Tianjin Center for Disease Control, undertakes tuberculosis training and education at all levels, and participates in the formulation of a number of diagnosis and treatment guidelines and industry standards for childhood tuberculosis. The pediatric tuberculosis follow-up system continues to this day.
In previous public health incidents, the respiratory department has repeatedly formed medical teams and expert teams to participate in epidemic prevention and control, which has been well received by the society.
The Department of Respiratory Medicine currently has 2 graduate tutors and 12 staff with senior professional titles.
Members of the Respiratory Department include various collaborative groups under the Pediatric Respiratory Group, and serve as standing committee members of academic groups at all levels in Tianjin.
Compiled multiple pediatric monographs, guidelines, consensus, and industry standards.
Diagnosis and treatment scope: The Respiratory Department has professional wards, respiratory outpatient clinics and sub-specialty outpatient clinics, tuberculosis clinics and pulmonary function rooms.
In addition to common diseases, the respiratory ward mainly treats difficult and critical cases in the respiratory field of children.
The respiratory clinic and sub-specialty clinics are responsible for following discharged patients, diagnosing and treating chronic respiratory diseases, and organizing multidisciplinary consultations.
Tuberculosis outpatient diagnosis, treatment and follow-up work.
The pulmonary function room can perform pulmonary function measurement on children of all ages and with various examination methods, including spirometry, pulse oscillation method, occlusion method, volume capnography, tidal pulmonary function measurement, and can complete diastolic test, challenge test, diffusion function, respiratory muscle strength and non-invasive airway inflammation level measurement.
