The research and intervention on intrinsic risk factors of neonatal iatrogenic hyperglycemia and the research on neonatal critical illness with SIADH both won the third prize of bureau-level scientific and technological progress.

Research on neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, hemolysis and exchange transfusion therapy, and NIPPV treatment of neonatal respiratory failure technology have filled a gap in Tianjin.

In addition, a series of studies on neonatal infectious diseases and birth defects have been carried out.

Up to now, the department is researching 1 Tianjin Natural Science Foundation project and 6 municipal bureau-level projects. Outpatient consultation time: every Monday to Saturday morning. Department of Neonatology at Machang: The Neonatology Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital was established in 1960. It is one of the earliest specialized neonatal wards established in my country and is one of the key disciplines of the hospital.

On September 30, 2019, the Machang hospital in Hexi District was renovated and opened for medical consultation. The Machang Department of Neonatology is an important part of the neonatal diagnosis and treatment center of our hospital. It is also the critical neonatal treatment center in our city. It took the lead in building the critical neonatal transport system of our hospital.

Our department has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a parent-child care area, with a total of 51 open beds. It provides diagnosis and treatment for newborns, premature infants, and babies less than 3 months old or weighing less than 6kg. It also operates a neonatal specialist clinic and a neonatal follow-up clinic.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is dedicated to the treatment of critically ill, premature infants, difficult cases, genetic metabolic diseases, perioperative management and other critical and critical patients.

The department has various specialized neonatal technologies, including neonatal critical care transport systems (equipped with transport incubators and transport ventilators), various advanced neonatal life support technologies (ventilator-assisted ventilation, PICC, total intravenous nutrition, etc.), fully automatic peripheral arterial and venous blood transfusion technology, neonatal asphyxia resuscitation technology, neonatal mild hypothermia treatment technology, bedside EEG monitoring, neonatal clinical nutrition support technology, bronchoscopy technology, peritoneal dialysis technology, etc., and actively carries out neonatal medical research.

The fully automatic peripheral arterial and venous synchronized exchange transfusion technology for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and the amplitude integrated electroencephalogram monitoring technology have filled the gap in Tianjin.

The NICU ward cooperates with multiple departments of our hospital on multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment (MDT), responsible for the referral and treatment of newborns with critical, difficult and rare diseases in Tianjin and surrounding areas, and provides high-quality diagnosis and treatment services to children.

The parent-child area opened on April 29, 2022, and introduced a family participatory care diagnosis and treatment model. Parents can accompany their sick babies 24 hours a day and personally participate in their babies' daily care.

This ward is also the first neonatal care ward in Tianjin. All are set up as single special-needs wards. Our medical staff will provide parents with professional guidance and help, and set up special lectures to provide parents with professional medical knowledge and nursing guidance, so that parents can master the correct newborn care methods to help their babies recover as soon as possible.

In the parent-child area, the company of parents is conducive to the recovery of the baby's illness, and at the same time relieves the mother's separation anxiety, facilitates breastfeeding, enhances the parent-child feeling, and promotes the baby's physical and brain development.

The parent-child area ward is scientifically designed, warm and comfortable, with complete supporting equipment. The ward adopts a model that combines medical management with humanized management to create the most comfortable medical environment for newborns. It has been personally inspected and valued by the leaders of the municipal party committee.

As the birthplace of the Neonatology Department of Tianjin Children's Hospital, the topics "Research on Water and Electrolyte Metabolism of Newborns" and "Pediatric Fluid Therapy" have won awards from the Ministry of Health and the National Medical and Health Science Conference Award.

The research and intervention on intrinsic risk factors of neonatal iatrogenic hyperglycemia and the research on neonatal critical illness with SIADH both won the third prize of bureau-level scientific and technological progress.
