Pathology Department

The Department of Pathology of the Hematology Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences is composed of several professional groups including pathology, cell morphology, histochemistry, flow cytometry, genetics, and molecular biology. It is the first and currently the only comprehensive hematology diagnostic platform in China that is truly in line with international standards. It is the first diagnostic platform in China that has passed the accreditation of CAP (College of American Pathologists) and CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) as a comprehensive laboratory, providing clinicians and patients with accurate and authoritative hematology diagnosis reports.

The department has a "Clinical Trial Central Laboratory", which can provide standardized and individualized one-stop services for various clinical trials of new drugs, diagnostic reagents, new equipment, new technologies, etc.

The department currently has 84 employees, 9 of whom have senior professional titles, including 16 with doctoral degrees, 35 with master's degrees, and 26 clinical/pathological/laboratory physicians. It has an excellent professional team and high-level professional strength.

The department receives more than 100 trainees in various majors every year, and special projects including "blood cell morphology study class" and hematology pathology specialist training have trained a large number of hematology professionals for medical institutions at all levels across the country. It is known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of domestic hematology diagnostics.

"Xiehe Bojing Medical Diagnostic Technology Co., Ltd." was established in February 2020. It is an integrated extension of our center's diagnostic platform. The team leader and technical backbone are all from the pathology center, which provides guarantee for "accurate" detection and "homogeneous" reporting.
