Stem Cell Transplant Center
Institute of Hematology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
The Stem Cell Transplantation Center of the Hematology Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences is one of the earliest units in China to carry out hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to treat hematological diseases. Professor Yan Wenwei, the founder of the institute’s Stem Cell Transplantation Center, led a team to complete the first domestic autologous bone marrow transplant to treat acute leukemia in 1986, filling the gap in domestic autologous transplantation for the treatment of leukemia.
Through the efforts of generations of transplant recipients, the center has made remarkable achievements in the fields of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, hemiploidy-identical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and hematological diseases. The long-term disease-free survival rate of transplant patients with various types of hematological diseases has reached the internationally advanced level.
Currently, the center has eight wards, with the goal of building the world's largest hematopoietic stem cell transplant center, with a total of 282 beds, including 80 100-level laminar flow wards, 10 100-level laminar flow beds, 72 1,000-level laminar flow beds, 69 laminar flow hospital beds, and 51 general hospital beds.
There are currently 37 doctors, 2 chief experts, 4 doctoral supervisors, 7 chief physicians, 8 deputy chief physicians, 22 attending physicians and 188 nursing staff.
