Clinical Laboratory Department

The Laboratory Department of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital was founded at the beginning of the hospital. After several generations of efforts, it has now become a large-scale medical laboratory center in a tertiary-level hospital that integrates medicine, teaching, research and prevention, and features auxiliary dynamic monitoring of tumor diagnosis and treatment.

The laboratory department is currently located on the 5th floor of the new outpatient building (Building D), with a construction area of ​​4000m2. It is composed of seven sub-professional groups: clinical biochemistry group, clinical immunology group, clinical testing group, clinical microbiology group, clinical trial group, special testing group, and specimen management group.

The department is equipped with more than 200 sets of internationally advanced large and medium-sized testing equipment of various types, and has carried out more than 400 diagnostic projects.

The department continues to introduce new technologies, steadily promotes new projects, and has established a comprehensive clinical medical testing quality management system. With a high-quality professional technical team and optimized work processes, it has formed a unique medical testing platform system for oncology that covers the entire process from early screening, laboratory-assisted diagnosis to clinical treatment monitoring and disease evaluation.

With superb technology, accurate reports, and sincere service, more than 6 million inspection reports are sent to clinical sites safely, high quality and quickly every year.

The laboratory department is an ISO15189 medical quality and capability accredited laboratory (institution registration number: CNASMT0157), the director unit of Tianjin Clinical Laboratory Quality Control Center, and a key clinical specialty unit of laboratory medicine of Tianjin Medical University.

All the staff in the department worked together, and their work was recognized by various departments, and they were awarded the honorary titles of "Tianjin Faculty Pioneer Collective" and "Tianjin Integrity Department";

The Party Branch of the Laboratory Department was awarded the "Pioneer Post of Party Member of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital", "Red Flag Party Organization of Tianjin Medical University", "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Tianjin Medical University", and "Vitality League Branch of Tianjin Medical University";

With an advanced technology platform, we also focus on building an excellent talent echelon. On the basis of completing clinical work, we actively carry out a series of clinical and scientific research.

As the testing center for phase I to IV clinical trials of new cancer drugs at the National Pharmacology Base, we have also undertaken 2 major projects (sub-topics) of the national "863" program in the past five years, hosted 11 National Natural Science (Youth) Fund projects, presided over more than 10 provincial, ministerial and bureau-level projects, and presided over more than 20 college-level projects.

In the past five years, he has published more than 40 SCI articles, the highest single SCI article IF>10, more than 20 Chinese-level monographs, more than 40 core medical journals, and is the chief editor, deputy editor, and co-editor of 7 monographs.

Currently, among the 60 people in the department, there are 2 chief technicians, 1 chief physician, 10 deputy chief technicians, 2 attending physicians, 17 chief technicians, 2 physicians, and 26 technicians, 55% of whom have a master's degree or above.

The Laboratory Department is the clinical teaching and research section of the Laboratory School of Tianjin Medical University and a standardized training base for laboratory physicians of the National Health Commission.

It accepts clinical internship teaching and teaching work in the inspection (college) departments of many universities and colleges every year. It currently has 1 doctoral supervisor and 2 master's supervisors, recruits more than 30 doctoral and master's students, and accepts professional training for inspection personnel from all over the country.

The department has established talent exchange bases with many internationally renowned medical research institutions, which has laid a solid foundation for the department to send key technical talents to study at advanced diagnostic platforms abroad as postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars.

At present, there are more than 30 technical personnel who have gone abroad for postdoctoral study and training experience.

All functional groups in the Laboratory Department work without holidays and insist on starting work at 7:00 a.m. throughout the year to provide patients with safe, high-quality and fast diagnostic services: full-process tracking of samples, timely prompts for abnormal specimens, intelligent summary of real-time data, immediate self-service access to outpatient reports, and historical testing data and trend charts for doctors to query at any time.

All staff in the department will continue to strengthen communication and exchanges with clinical departments, strive to explore new models of laboratory medicine, and actively promote the intersection and integration of related majors within and outside the discipline.
