Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital

The Pathology Department of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital was founded in the 1950s by Professor Wang Deyan, a famous tumor pathologist. It is now a key clinical specialty construction unit, an affiliated unit of Tianjin Difficult Pathology Consultation Center and Pathology Quality Control Center, a training base for pathologists in Tianjin, a training site for postdoctoral, doctoral and master's degree students in pathology at Tianjin Medical University, and the organizer of the "National Training Course for Oncology Pathologists".

In terms of pathological diagnosis, scientific research and teaching of tumors, it ranks first in Tianjin and at the domestic advanced level.

There are currently 48 staff in the department, including 22 physicians (4 chief physicians and 7 deputy chief physicians), 17 with doctorate degrees, and 8 with overseas study experience.

There are 2 doctoral supervisors and 4 master supervisors.

There are 3 talents with the title of provincial and ministerial level or above, 1 deputy chairman and 3 standing committee members of the national second-level society.

It has been committed to the construction of pathology subspecialties for many years. At present, it has established multiple tumor pathology subspecialties such as lymphatic blood, thyroid, respiratory system and mediastinum, bone and soft tissue, stomach and pancreas, colorectum and liver, genitourinary system and cytology. Each subspecialty is led by at least one deputy chief physician. In 2014, a molecular pathology diagnostic laboratory was established.

The number of difficult pathological consultations increases year by year, covering more than a dozen provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, mainly in the north and northwest. In particular, the pathological diagnosis of lymphatic and hematopoietic tumors has formed a regional advantage, and patients come from all over the country.

He also participated in the formulation of many domestic tumor pathology diagnosis guidelines and standards.

In the past five years, he has won 21 scientific research projects at all levels, including 8 national scientific research projects. He has published 53 SCI-indexed papers as the first author/corresponding author, of which 10 have a score of 5 or above, and the highest impact factor is 23.893 (CancerCell).

The "National Oncology Pathologists Training Class" hosted by the Department of Pathology has been held for 35 consecutive years, training hundreds of oncology pathologists from all over the country, many of whom have become leaders and business backbones of the pathology departments of their hospitals.
