Intensive Care Department

The Intensive Care Department of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital was established on April 2, 2007. It currently has 11 medical staff: 1 chief physician, 2 deputy chief physicians, 2 doctors, and 7 masters.

With the development and progress of medicine, cancer is no longer an incurable disease. The diagnosis and treatment methods of cancer are changing with each passing day. Oncology critical care medicine should also keep pace with the times to protect various oncology clinical disciplines, reduce non-tumor mortality, and improve the quality of medical care and patients' quality of life.

Over the past ten years since its establishment, the Oncology Intensive Care Department of our hospital has gradually built an excellent oncology critical care medical care team with a reasonable echelon of medical staff, superb skills, and outstanding treatment capabilities. It has gradually formulated a set of clinical treatment and nursing management standards for patients with severe tumors. The professional and technical capabilities of critical care medicine are not inferior to the level of domestic tertiary-level hospitals, and it also has distinctive features of critical tumors.

The Intensive Care Department carries out routine intensive care and organ support technology in the ICU. It also carries out non-invasive and minimally invasive hemodynamic monitoring and treatment based on the characteristics of tumor patients, bundled strategies to prevent and control hospital-acquired infections, analgesia-based titrated sedation therapy, nutritional therapy for severe tumors and other core technologies. It actively participates in various oncology clinical disciplines to carry out MDT diagnosis and treatment work, escorts patients with severe tumors, smoothly survives the peri-tumor treatment period, improves medical quality and ensures medical safety.

At the same time, as the intensive care department of the cancer hospital, it is also responsible for hospital-wide infection prevention and control, rational application of antibiotics, and emergency support for public health emergencies.

At the same time, the ICU ward is constructed and configured in accordance with relevant national standards. Each bed unit is equipped with monitoring instruments and equipment. The wards are regionally arranged, including critical rescue units, intensive care units, negative pressure isolation units, VIP units, etc. to meet the treatment needs of different patients.

Key physicians at all levels in the department are responsible for completing bureau-level, school-level, and hospital-level projects in their profession, leading 2 clinical trials, and publishing dozens of articles in SCI, Chinese and core journals.

Participated in authoring 2 books.

In the past three years, the department has hosted 3 national academic conferences on severe oncology, all of which have been well received by fellow experts and participants.

Wang Donghao, the subject leader of the department, serves as the elected chairman of the Oncology Critical Care Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association. At the same time, the backbone of the department holds positions in the Critical Care Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Branch, the Tianjin Medical Association, the Physician Association, and the Anti-Cancer Association.

The department continues to consolidate its professional foundation, promote the spirit of craftsmanship, and build a professional team that dares to take on responsibilities and is able to take on responsibilities.

Under the leadership of Director Wang Donghaoke, the Intensive Care Department practices "two studies and one action", continuously strengthens work style construction, thoroughly implements the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and takes protecting people's health as the goal of professional development.

Three comrades from the department have won the Tianjin May 1st Labor Medal, two comrades have been awarded the title of "Good Doctor" and "Good Nurse" by the Tianjin People's Satisfaction, and many key nurses have achieved excellent results in the Tianjin Nursing Skills Competition.

The department has successively won the titles of Tianjin Medical University’s Advanced Grassroots Party Organization, Youth Civilization Number, Faculty Pioneer Number, Party Member Pioneer Post, Advanced Party Organization, Advanced Collective with Noble Medical Ethics, and has been awarded the title of Five-Star Department for many consecutive years. It has won high praise and trust from the hospital, society and the people.
