Thyroid and Neck Tumor Department
Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital
The Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital is a professional department developed and established on the basis of the head and neck tumor professional treatment group established earlier in my country. It is currently the seat of the head and neck tumor chairman unit and secretariat of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, the secretariat of the Thyroid Cancer Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and the chairman unit and secretariat of the Tianjin Thyroid Cancer Professional Committee.
The founder of the discipline is Professor Li Shuling, a famous academic leader in head and neck cancer in my country.
The subject leader, Professor Gao Ming, is a doctoral supervisor. He once served as the chairman of the Thyroid Cancer Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and currently serves as the chairman of the Head and Neck Cancer Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association. He is also the chairman of the Tianjin Thyroid Cancer Professional Committee and other academic positions.
The Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology has not only inherited the superb surgical skills and rigorous work attitude of the older generation of medical workers, but also inherited the nationally renowned medical characteristics of the original Head and Neck Department. It took the lead in formulating the standardized guidelines for thyroid tumors in my country and became the setter of standardized standards for the thyroid tumor treatment industry in my country.
The Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology has strong clinical technology and skilled surgical expertise. It has experienced and highly qualified head and neck oncologists, and has world-leading treatment methods and methods.
As the birthplace of head and neck surgery in my country, the purpose of medical work is "inheritance and development". In clinical treatment, it not only inherits the traditional medical characteristics of the original head and neck surgery, but also constantly seeks development and meets new challenges through technological improvement and technological innovation.
Nowadays, the Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology has formed a more representative and distinctive surgical treatment system for the treatment of malignant tumors of the head and neck.
For example, the surgical treatment of thyroid cancer places special emphasis on individualized treatment and function-preserving surgical treatment.
Taking papillary thyroid cancer as an example, we are the first to propose the concept of thyroid cancer risk stratification in China. We conduct a detailed analysis of each patient's pathological sections based on the WHO's new histological classification of thyroid tumors. We also combine the patient's age, primary tumor size and other factors to develop a treatment plan suitable for the patient, and then perform corresponding surgical treatment.
The department also actively carries out functional surgery in clinical practice, that is, functional preservation and functional reconstruction.
Among them, function-preserving surgery mainly performs multi-functional cervical lymph node dissection, nerve transplantation, parathyroid dissection, preservation and transplantation, etc.
On the premise of not affecting the complete tumor resection, the patient's function is preserved and the appearance is perfect, which improves the patient's quality of life after surgery.
In addition, the department has gradually carried out laparoscopic-assisted thyroidectomy and cervical lymph node dissection in recent years, including laparoscopic-assisted axillary approach thyroidectomy + ipsilateral central lymph node dissection, laparoscopic-assisted oral approach thyroidectomy + central lymph node dissection, and robot-assisted thyroidectomy + central lymph node dissection, achieving the goal of "markless neck" cosmetic surgery, improving the postoperative satisfaction of thyroid cancer patients, and achieving good results.
In addition, the Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology has a strong thyroid cancer clinical trial platform and a number of nationally-led multi-center clinical studies.
At present, the department has concentrated most of the domestic clinical trials of thyroid cancer targeted drugs and biotherapeutic drugs, and there are many international multi-center clinical studies also led by the Thyroid and Neck Oncology Department. International multi-center clinical studies include: sorafenib (domestic lead), vandetanib (domestic lead), lenvatinib (domestic lead),
Domestic drugs include: anlotinib (led domestically), apatinib, surufatinib and other targeted drugs have achieved good results.
Comprehensive treatment of malignant tumors has also become one of the features of the Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology.
At present, the importance of comprehensive treatment of malignant tumors is increasingly emphasized internationally.
On the basis of traditional chemotherapy methods, we actively integrate with international standards, constantly design new technologies and develop new methods to better serve patients.
While actively doing clinical work, the department also conducts a large amount of basic research, which beneficially promotes the development of clinical work.
He has undertaken a number of projects at all levels, won multiple awards, and published more than 200 papers in domestic and foreign professional magazines.
Received: second prize of China Anti-Cancer Association Science and Technology Award, second prize of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award, third prize of China Science and Technology Award and other national and provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards.
The chief editor's monographs of the Department of Thyroid and Neck Oncology include: "Thyroid Oncology", "Head and Neck Oncology Third Edition", "100 Questions and Answers on Thyroid Tumors", "Diagnosis, Treatment and Prognosis of Head and Neck Tumors", "Standards for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Head and Neck Tumors" (1992, 2003), the audio-visual textbooks of the Ministry of Health "Combined Radical Surgery for Thyroid Cancer", "Head and Neck Oncology", "New Head and Neck Oncology", "Diagnosis and Treatment Plans for Common Tumors", and "Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology".
