The Department of Gynecological Oncology of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital was formerly known as the Department of Pelvic Oncology of Tianjin Cancer Hospital. It was founded in 1952 and was the first department in Tianjin to carry out radical surgeries for various pelvic malignant tumors.

It is a professional department that focuses on surgery and comprehensively uses chemotherapy, radiotherapy, interventional therapy and targeted therapy to diagnose and treat various malignant gynecological tumors such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, peritoneal cancer and various benign gynecological tumors. It has a professional team with good medical ethics, rich experience, superb skills, advanced equipment and high-quality care.

Currently, there are 20 doctors in the Department of Gynecological Oncology, 95% of whom are doctors and masters, including 5 chief physicians, 5 deputy chief physicians, and 94 beds.

In 2016, it performed more than 1,600 surgeries and is an important and prestigious gynecological oncology diagnosis and treatment department in northern my country.

After several generations of unremitting efforts, we have extensively absorbed advanced experience at home and abroad, emphasizing the standardized treatment of gynecological malignant tumors and forming its own distinctive characteristics in individual and comprehensive treatment. We are especially good at surgery, chemotherapy and comprehensive treatment of refractory and recurrent gynecological malignant tumors.

As a department with traditional surgical advantages, it has rich experience in complex ovarian cancer cytoreduction, comprehensive staging of ovarian cancer, nerve-sparing radical hysterectomy, wide resection of vulvar cancer, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, pelvic organ dissection and other difficult surgeries for gynecological tumors.

The Department of Gynecological Oncology focuses on basic and clinical research on gynecological tumors, pays close attention to domestic and foreign subject trends and new developments, and actively carries out external exchanges and cooperation.

In recent years, he has published more than 10 papers in national core journals and SCI magazines every year. He has undertaken a number of research projects from the National Natural Science Foundation, Tianjin Science and Technology Commission, Education Commission, Health Bureau, Tianjin Medical University, etc., and has achieved fruitful research results.

He has reached cooperative relationships with a number of research institutions and has participated in a number of clinical studies. He has participated in the preparation of monographs such as "Abdominal Oncology", "Tumor Surgery" and "Concise Oncology", and has published research reports at domestic and foreign academic conferences many times.

The department undertakes various teaching tasks for undergraduates, graduate students and international students of Tianjin Medical University.

At present, it has a team that integrates medical care, teaching and scientific research, with a reasonable structure and a complete echelon.

In 2014, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital was selected as the National Cancer Clinical Center, and subsequently was selected as the National Health and Family Planning Commission’s Diagnosis and Treatment Center for Difficult and Severe Diseases, which provides unprecedented opportunities for the development of gynecological oncology.
