Pharmacy Department

The Department of Pharmacy of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital was established in 1946 when the hospital was founded. After 70 years of development, it has now become a platform department serving the entire hospital integrating clinical services, scientific research, teaching and management.

At present, the pharmacy department consists of outpatient pharmacy, emergency pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy, intravenous drug dispensing center, Chinese and Western medicine preparation room, drug testing room, drug library, clinical pharmacy, drug and poison testing center and other departments.

In addition to ensuring the procurement, quality management, dispensing, intravenous drug configuration, and preparation configuration of the hospital for clinically required drugs, the Pharmacy Department currently provides clinical pharmacy technical services such as clinical treatment plan optimization, pharmaceutical monitoring, and medication consultation, as well as personalized precision pharmaceutical services such as therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacogenome sequencing. At the same time, it closely integrates with clinical practice to carry out pharmaceutical research in the fields of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions, clinical pharmacy, precision pharmacy, pharmaceutical informatics, and pharmacoeconomics.

The Pharmacy Department pays attention to talent training and team building. Currently, there are 175 permanent employees, 76.6% of whom have a bachelor's degree or above, 3 with doctorates, 34 with master's degrees, 6 chief pharmacists, 9 deputy chief pharmacists, and 58 chief pharmacists.

The Department of Pharmacy is now a national clinical pharmacist training base, a construction unit of the Tianjin Drug Toxicology Testing Center, and a unit that serves as the vice-chairman of the Tianjin Pharmaceutical Society, the chairman of the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Research Professional Committee of the Tianjin Pharmacological Society, the chairman of the Intravenous Drug Dispensing Professional Committee of the Tianjin Pharmaceutical Society, the deputy director of the Hospital Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Tianjin Pharmaceutical Society, the deputy director of the Pharmaceutical Management Professional Committee of the Tianjin Hospital Association, and the deputy director of the Youth Pharmacy Professional Committee of the Tianjin Pharmaceutical Society.

The department currently has 2 master's tutors from Tianjin Medical University, who are responsible for teaching, clinical practice teaching and graduation thesis guidance for Tianjin Medical University's pharmacy master's students, Tianjin Medical University's clinical pharmacy and pharmacy undergraduate students, and Tianjin Medical College students.

Many members of the department serve as associate editors and editorial boards of pharmaceutical professional journals and textbooks. They have high academic influence in the hospital pharmacy community in Tianjin and even across the country. In the past five years, they have presided over 6 national and provincial-level scientific research projects. In the past three years, they have published 53 papers, including 5 SCI papers, and obtained 3 Chinese invention patents.
