Medical Imaging Department

Tianjin Medical University General Hospital

The Medical Imaging Department of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital was established in 1946.

Tianjin Radiation Diagnosis and Treatment Center was established in December 1983, and was renamed Tianjin Institute of Radiation Diagnosis and Treatment in 1986. On July 9, 1997, it was renamed Tianjin Institute of Imaging Medicine.

The discipline has been included in Tianjin’s key disciplines and the “211 Project” key construction disciplines of the Ministry of Education since 1996. In 2013, it successfully entered the “National Key Clinical Specialty” construction project.

Over the years, the discipline has established a relatively complete discipline construction system and a relatively complete medical quality control system with the goal of providing patients with the highest quality imaging diagnosis and treatment services, and with the goal of building a first-class domestic and internationally renowned medical imaging diagnosis and treatment center.

A group of well-known experts in medical imaging, represented by Professors Wu Enhui, He Nengshu, Zhang Yunting, Bai Baiju, and Yu Chunshui, have emerged in the discipline, and a group of medical imaging experts represented by Professors Qi Ji, Wang Zhenchang, Shen Baozhong, Xu Wenjian, etc. have been trained for other domestic hospitals.

Under the leadership of the older generation of medical imaging experts, we focus on the introduction and absorption of advanced diagnosis and treatment technologies at home and abroad. The sources of disease cover North China, Northeast China and even the whole country. It especially plays an important role in neuroimaging diagnosis, diagnosis of endocrine diseases and interventional treatment of peripheral vascular disease.

The discipline focuses on solving clinical needs. Based on the "Tianjin Key Laboratory of Functional Imaging" platform, it strengthens the integration of medicine and engineering, clinical and basic research to develop new diagnostic and treatment technologies, and has achieved many high-level research results.

In the past five years, the discipline has hosted 45 ongoing scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, including 29 national-level projects and 16 provincial-ministerial projects, and has received a total of 18.19 million yuan in scientific research funding.

Published 228 academic papers and 124 SCI-indexed papers, including nearly 20 SCI papers with impact factors greater than 5.

Won 4 provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards, including 2 provincial and ministerial level first prizes.

1 invention patent and 7 utility model patent authorizations.

A regional medical imaging diagnosis and treatment center focusing on early diagnosis of major diseases and featuring interventional treatment has been initially formed. It has initially formed two major research directions: brain functional imaging and molecular imaging, and has initially established a clinical translation research platform for multidisciplinary cooperation.

The discipline has currently the most advanced medical large-scale medical imaging equipment in the world with a total value of 200 million yuan: 4 wireless double-board DR, 1 high-end digital gastrointestinal machine, 1 digital breast machine, 1 mobile DR, 5 spiral CT, 4 3.0T high-field MR, 2 1.5TMR, 3 DSA, etc.

3.0TMR750 and third-generation gemstone energy spectrum CT are all high-end products in the industry, which can fully meet the needs of clinical, teaching and scientific research.

The third generation Gem Spectral CT provides energy spectrum imaging of the heart and coronary arteries, which is unique in the industry.

Both intraoperative MR and intraoperative DSA are installed in the hybrid operating room of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital. This operating room is the only one in our city that can perform functional imaging examinations such as intraoperative brain function localization, and can also perform hybrid surgical operations under DSA and direct vision.

The discipline currently has 114 in-service medical technicians at all levels, including 33 with senior professional titles, 6 doctoral supervisors, and 11 master's degree supervisors.

Discipline personnel serve as chairman, chairman, vice-chairman and committee members of important academic groups across the country.

"National Outstanding Youth Science Fund", "National Hundreds and Thousands of Talents Project", "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions", "New Century Talents of the Ministry of Education", first-tier candidate for Tianjin's "131" innovative talent training project, and entered Tianjin's "Tianjin Higher Education Institutions Innovation Team Building Plan" in 2013.

4 experts receive special allowance from the State Council.

Many people serve as standing committee members, members, and youth committee members of the Chinese Society of Radiology, chairman and standing committee members of the Tianjin Society of Radiology, and chairman, executive director, secretary-general, and director of the National Medical Imaging Education Research Association.

He serves as deputy editor, standing editorial board member, editorial board member and consulting editorial board member of 22 international and domestic professional magazines.

Under the influence of the older generation, "teaching and educating people" has become an important inheritance of the discipline.

The first batch of master's degree authorization points were established in 1978, and the second batch of doctoral degree authorization points were established in 1984.

The first batch of doctoral degree granting points in the first-level discipline of "Medical Technology".

At the same time, it undertakes the imaging teaching tasks of Tianjin Medical University’s medical major and imaging medicine major at five-year, seven-year, and junior college levels.

Since 1981, the discipline has been authorized by the Ministry of Health as a national radiologist training site, training more than 30 training doctors from all over the country every year, totaling more than 800 people.

It has national-level famous teachers, national-level specialty majors, national-level quality teaching materials, quality courses and quality videos.

Through years of construction, the Department of Medical Imaging has initially formed two major research directions: brain functional imaging and molecular imaging.

By organizing a large-sample multi-center research project, 30 imaging centers in the country collected whole-genome genetic data, environmental survey data, multi-modal MRI data and cognitive function assessment data from 6,000 healthy Han people. Pathway analysis and other methods were used to study the normal transmission pathways of genetic and environmental factors - human brain structure and function - cognitive behavior, laying the foundation for understanding abnormal transmission pathways of neuropsychiatric diseases.

A clinical translational research platform for multidisciplinary cooperation has been initially established, applying functional imaging technology, molecular imaging technology, and targeted nuclide diagnosis and treatment technology to conduct in-depth research on the screening, prevention, and early diagnosis of major diseases and malignant tumors.
