Ultrasound Department

The Ultrasound Department of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital has a professional team with superb technology, strong strength and excellent service, integrating clinical, teaching and scientific research. It is the leader of the quality control team for the standardized training of ultrasound doctors in Tianjin.

There are currently 23 members in the department, 2 with senior professional titles, 11 with intermediate professional titles, and 10 with junior professional titles.

It has a reasonable and outstanding talent echelon, including 1 master's student supervisor, all department members have a bachelor's degree or above, and nearly 80% have a doctorate or master's degree.

The department has introduced 16 advanced color ultrasound diagnostic machines.

The department has seven subspecialties: heart, blood vessels, abdomen, cranial brain, musculoskeletal nerve pulmonary, superficial organs, and interventional ultrasound. It has more than 30 routine examination items and ultrasound consultation work, and receives an average of more than 100,000 visits every year.

The Department of Ultrasound has an ultrasound interventional room with up to standard sterile conditions and complete rescue measures. It routinely carries out various interventional examinations and treatments under ultrasound guidance. It is safe, effective, minimally invasive, and low-cost. It has relieved the pain of patients and reduced their economic burden. It has launched new technologies such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound and quantitative research earlier, and has received good social and economic benefits.

The regular projects carried out by the department are as follows:

1. Color ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination of various organs in the abdominal cavity and pelvis.

2. Color ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination of superficial tissues and organs.

3. Color ultrasound and angiography diagnosis of carotid artery, peripheral blood vessel and abdominal vascular diseases.

4. Echocardiography and intraoperative monitoring.

5. Transrectal and transvaginal ultrasound examination.

6. Ultrasound intraoperative monitoring.

7. Ultrasound elastography.

8. Three-dimensional color ultrasound examination.

9. Musculoskeletal nerve ultrasound, lung ultrasound and neonatal brain examination.

10. Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology and pathological examination of thyroid nodules (FNAB), ultrasound-guided pathological biopsy of breasts, lymph nodes, superficial tumors, etc., abdominal organ biopsy, chest and ascites drainage tubes, cyst sclerotherapy, etc.

In the preoperative ultrasound diagnosis and intraoperative monitoring of interventional treatment of congenital heart disease, ultrasound-guided lung and kidney puncture examination carried out in cooperation with clinical clinics, ultrasound examination diagnosis of renal artery stenosis, ultrasound contrast imaging, ultrasound elastography, and ultrasound speckle tracking.

Among them, echocardiography and vascular ultrasonic examination have reached the leading level in the city, and the number of annual examinations of contrast-enhanced ultrasound and ultrasound interventional ultrasound is also at the forefront of the city.

Strengthen cooperation with clinical departments:

Cooperate with the cardiac surgery department to carry out interventional closure surgery for congenital heart disease (indications screening, intraoperative monitoring, postoperative evaluation, etc.) and cooperate with the pediatric department to conduct newborn screening for congenital heart disease and craniocerebral diseases.

Responsible for the five-year, eight-year (5+3) and clinical professional teaching of imaging medicine at Tianjin Medical University.

Completed clinical internship teaching for postgraduate students majoring in imaging. It is a standardized training base for ultrasound residents in Tianjin. It has formulated and modified the 5+3 professional master's training program of Tianjin Medical University and taught more than 20 master's students.

Organize and participate in the inspection and review work of Tianjin Ultrasound Quality Control, Tianjin Regulation and Training Base, Tianjin Stroke Center Construction and Management Supervision, etc.

Carry out the compilation of teaching materials for the ultrasonic resident training base.

Many experts in the department hold part-time jobs at or above the member level in the Ultrasound Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Chinese Association of Ultrasound Physicians, the Chinese Society of Medical Ultrasound Engineering, the Chinese Medical Imaging Technology Research Association and branches in Tianjin.

In recent years, the department has published dozens of papers in core journals at home and abroad, including 4 SCI papers as the first author, hosted and undertaken 7 scientific research projects at the National Natural Science and Bureau level, won 2 third prizes for scientific and technological progress, 1 scientific research achievement in Tianjin's health industry, 4 projects to fill gaps in the introduction of new technologies in Tianjin, and participated in the compilation of 2 professional books.

It sends many personnel out for study and training every year, strengthens exchanges and cooperation with well-known ultrasound experts at home and abroad, and gradually builds a high-end talent training model that combines domestic and international.
