Rehabilitation medicine is a medical discipline that eliminates and alleviates human dysfunction, compensates for and reconstructs human functional deficiencies, and seeks to improve and enhance human functions in all aspects. Under the guidance of Professor Wang Maobin and the strategic positioning of the hospital, the severe rehabilitation carried out by a team led by department director Professor Wan Chunxiao is the specialty of this department.

The undergraduate department has multi-faceted rehabilitation projects, such as critical care rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, pain rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, children's rehabilitation, geriatric rehabilitation, rapid recovery surgery and other projects. The content is rich and can basically meet the needs of patients.

The department has opened and successfully operated the country's first rehabilitation ICU ward on September 1, 2016. It can provide critical care rescue capabilities including cardiopulmonary and cerebral resuscitation technology, respiratory support technology, circulatory support technology, infection control technology, nutritional support technology, etc. It also has skilled neurological rehabilitation technology, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation Technology, musculoskeletal rehabilitation technology, swallowing nutrition rehabilitation technology, speech cognitive rehabilitation technology, pelvic rehabilitation technology, gastrointestinal function rehabilitation technology, pain rehabilitation technology and corresponding physical therapy technology, etc., can provide critical care and functional treatment for difficult and critically ill patients who need to provide rehabilitation needs.

Critical care rehabilitation team: All members have doctoral degrees and rich clinical experience.

Under the leadership of Director Wan Chunxiao, the team has repeatedly achieved outstanding results in rehabilitation: it successfully provided rehabilitation treatment for the most seriously injured person in the extremely large explosion accident at the dangerous goods warehouse of Tianjin Port Ruihai Company on August 12, so that he woke up after being in a coma for 5 months and achieved the ability to live independently.

The patient with hemicerebral infarction can achieve a level of self-care and return to work. The ventilator supports the patient with coma and quadriplegia to successfully wean themselves off the machine and become conscious, and the activities of both upper limbs can be restored to normal levels.

Neurorehabilitation team: It has theoretical and practical experience in the rehabilitation treatment of neurological diseases, adopts world-class rehabilitation technology, and comprehensively carries out early rehabilitation assessment and clinical management of stroke (cerebral infarction/cerebral hemorrhage), spinal cord injury, craniocerebral injury, Parkinson's disease, dementia, and peripheral nerve damage. It provides systematic rehabilitation treatment for limb movement, sensory, and balance dysfunction, impairment of daily living ability, consciousness disorder, speech, cognitive, and swallowing dysfunction, neurogenic bladder/rectum, facial paralysis, and intractable hiccups.

At the same time, world-class advanced non-invasive rehabilitation technologies such as transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial electrical stimulation can be used through neuroelectrophysiology (surface electromyography, electroencephalography, etc.), combined with biofeedback, virtual reality rehabilitation technology, botulinum toxin injection and other technologies, combined with physical therapy and other means to maximize the patient's residual function and actively prevent complications. The ultimate goal is to improve the patient's quality of life.

Orthopedic rehabilitation team: We have rich experience in treatment and rehabilitation for various bone and joint diseases, such as spinal diseases, limb arthrosis, trauma and fracture surgery, chronic bone diseases such as osteoporosis, etc., as well as various soft tissue injuries.

Orthopedic rehabilitation is an important branch of rehabilitation medicine and an indispensable link in the overall treatment plan for various types of orthopedic injuries.

The main contents include muscle strength training, joint function training, joint proprioception, balance function training, gait training, musculoskeletal and nerve function rehabilitation treatment, etc.

In particular, preoperative rehabilitation training and early postoperative rehabilitation intervention are very important.

Our team adheres to advanced rehabilitation concepts and combines diversified diagnosis and treatment rehabilitation equipment, including infrared thermal imaging equipment, musculoskeletal ultrasound, isokinetic myometry systems, American chiropractic beds, ozone interventional therapy, etc., which can significantly relieve pain, improve dysfunction, and restore motor functions.

Since the launch of the business, it has solved the needs of a large number of perioperative rehabilitation patients, allowing patients to return to society and their families, and truly achieve the unity of structure and function, treatment and rehabilitation.

Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Team: Through long-term cooperation and continuous efforts with relevant clinical departments such as cardiovascular medicine, cardiovascular surgery, and respiratory medicine, we have now achieved success in coronary heart disease (including acute myocardial infarction, coronary stent surgery, and coronary artery bypass surgery), essential hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Safe and effective systemic cardiac rehabilitation and pulmonary rehabilitation treatments are carried out for chest pain and lung pain caused by diseases, surgery/trauma, chronic restrictive lung diseases, muscle weakness after central nervous system injury, respiratory failure, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary infection, tracheostomy, etc.

Using advanced instruments and equipment to measure cardiopulmonary function and formulate exercise prescriptions can greatly improve the survival and quality of life of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation patients. Through pulmonary rehabilitation training, patients can improve their lung function, lung ventilation patterns, respiratory muscle strength, improve their ability to cough and airway clearance, reduce the number and duration of pulmonary infections in patients, improve the success rate of tracheostomy removal in patients with tracheostomy, and shorten the hospitalization period of patients.

Children's Rehabilitation Team: Integrating clinical practice, scientific research, and teaching, it aims to promote children's health, improve their quality of life, and enable children to return to family and social life as soon as possible.

The team has carried out rehabilitation projects such as exercise therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, sensory integration training, and orthotics configuration. It has the only multi-sensory training room in Tianjin and can develop comprehensive rehabilitation plans and comprehensive rehabilitation treatments for patients with psychomotor developmental delays, cerebral palsy, encephalitis, and peripheral nerve injuries.

Pain rehabilitation team: Carry out pain rehabilitation, aiming at acute peripheral sports injuries and chronic degenerative diseases caused by spine and bone joints, as well as acute and chronic pain caused by postpartum injuries and nerve damage, using the world's advanced shock wave technology, combined with chiropractic technology, and various physical therapy methods to quickly relieve pain and improve function for patients.

The team has received a lot of praise from patients since its launch. It can quickly and effectively relieve the most troublesome pain symptoms of patients, relieve their suffering, lay the foundation for subsequent treatment, and greatly improve the patient's compliance. The treatment methods are diversified, stepped, and standardized, and the results are outstanding.

Geriatric Rehabilitation Team: Taking advantage of the general hospital, we carry out pelvic rehabilitation and carry out muscle strength training and athletic ability training for the elderly with low cardiopulmonary and motor function, so as to improve the quality of life of elderly patients, increase their life satisfaction and extend their life span.

Rehabilitation specialist care: In order to adapt to the development of rehabilitation medicine and provide more specialized rehabilitation care, adhering to the service concept of "patient-centered, high-quality care", as the leader of the nursing discipline, head nurse Wu Rui led the nurses to carry out ADL assessment and guidance, neurogenic bladder, rectal rehabilitation care, hemiplegia and spinal cord Good limb placement for injured patients, position transfer technology, prevention of pressure ulcers, rehabilitation treatment of pressure ulcer patients, rehabilitation nursing for swallowing disorders, rehabilitation nursing for speech dysfunction, rehabilitation nursing for critically ill patients, pulmonary function rehabilitation, psychological rehabilitation, use of various assistive devices and other specialized rehabilitation nursing work.

We have trained 1 ICU specialist nurse and 1 intravenous therapy specialist nurse. Through the training of specialist nurses, we have given full play to our talent advantages and driven the overall improvement of the department's nursing level.

Carry out the propaganda form of "rehabilitation nursing into the community and give lectures" to serve more patients, go deep into the hospital medical alliance, and participate in the Nanyingmen rehabilitation ward to guide nursing work.

Multimedia means are used to produce rehabilitation-specific health education materials, and rehabilitation nursing science knowledge is pushed through the hospital's 317 nursing education platform to enable patients and their families to understand rehabilitation-related knowledge, and the Internet hospital is used to provide continued care for discharged patients.

Rehabilitation Medical Alliance: With the development of medical reform, the first rehabilitation medical alliance was born in our city in 2016.

In response to policy calls and in response to people's needs, the department has vigorously promoted the medical consortium model. Currently, the contracting units include Binhai Hospital, Airport Hospital, and Nanyingmen Health Center (with 10 rehabilitation beds directly managed by the rehabilitation department staff of the general hospital). The department is committed to the in-depth expansion of the rehabilitation medical consortium work, which will lay an important foundation for realizing the goal of "rehabilitation for everyone" in the future.
