Department of Infectious Diseases
Tianjin Medical University General Hospital
The Department of Infectious Diseases of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital was developed on the basis of the former Infectious Diseases Group of the Department of Internal Medicine.
In more than half a century of development, the Department of Infectious Diseases has transformed its work from infectious diseases to infectious diseases.
Through the unremitting efforts of three generations of senior directors, Professor Wu Zonglin, Professor Shao Weichuan and Professor Gong Lu, the academic influence and discipline scale of the Department of Infectious Diseases have continued to expand.
Currently, the Department of Infectious Diseases is headed by Pang Chongjie, which consists of an infection ward, an infectious disease clinic, and a fever/intestinal outpatient department (emergency). The ward has 16 beds, with 1 chief physician, 2 deputy chief physicians, 7 attending physicians, 1 resident physician, and 11 nurses. Many people work in the Tianjin Hospital Infection Quality Control Center, the Infectious Diseases Branch of the Tianjin Medical Doctors Association, and the Tianjin Society of Infectious Diseases.
In 2013, the Department of Infectious Diseases was rated as a key clinical specialty of Tianjin Medical University. It mainly carries out clinical diagnosis and treatment of unexplained fever and infectious diseases (such as severe pneumonia, sepsis, meningitis, endocarditis, urinary system infections, drug-resistant bacterial infections), participates in antimicrobial drug management and consultation in Tianjin and hospitals, and plays an important role in hospital infection prevention and control.
With the development of the discipline, the improvement of diagnosis and treatment levels, and the continuous development of new diagnosis and treatment technologies, the Department of Infectious Diseases has become the backbone of the anti-infective field in Tianjin, responsible for the consultation and anti-infective treatment guidance of a large number of difficult and critical cases in Tianjin.
More and more patients come here to seek medical treatment. Many difficult and complicated diseases are diagnosed in the infectious disease department, and many critically ill patients are successfully treated in the infectious disease department.
As an integral and important part of the clinical work of the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Fever/Intestinal Clinic is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of most acute intestinal diseases and acute febrile diseases in the city.
Influenza patients increase sharply in winter and spring, and diarrhea patients are overcrowded in summer and autumn. Fever/intestinal outpatient clinics never have an easy time of the year.
In order to shorten the patient's treatment time, the Fever/Intestinal Outpatient Clinic simplifies the medical treatment process and provides a "one-stop" service - registration, diagnosis and treatment, laboratory tests, and payment can all be completed at the Fever/Intestinal Outpatient Clinic.
Medical staff have been truly trained during their busy schedule, and their ability to respond to public health emergencies has been significantly improved.
Especially when major epidemics such as SARS and influenza A hit, all medical staff in the Department of Infectious Diseases rose to the challenge and were on the front line.
In every battle without gunpowder, the medical staff never complained and successfully completed various tasks assigned by the hospital.
After actual training in the SARS and H1N1 influenza epidemics, the Department of Infectious Diseases has cultivated a team of medical staff who are capable of fighting and winning, and have made significant contributions to the prevention and control of infectious diseases in Tianjin.
The Department of Infectious Diseases currently takes building a discipline brand as the starting point, focusing on clinical practice, highlighting the characteristics of diagnosis and treatment of difficult diseases, and creating a new four-in-one model of the Department of Infectious Diseases. That is, the Department of Infectious Diseases is built into a four-in-one new infectious disease department that integrates clinical diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, antimicrobial drug management, clinical microbiology, and hospital infection control. It assumes the task of guiding the rational use of antibacterial drugs and diagnosing and treating patients with difficult and severe infections. The daily work of doctors is also divided into three parts: ward management, infectious disease outpatient clinics, and in-hospital consultations.
In the future, the Department of Infectious Diseases will stand from the perspective of the hospital, establish a "large infectious disease department, hospital's infectious disease department" and "small ward, large clinic", actively participate in the use and management of antibacterial drugs in hospitals, and hospital infection control and management, and create a new infectious disease department model in Tianjin and even the country.
