Cardiovascular Department

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital is one of the key clinical development disciplines of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital and is a doctoral degree authorization point.

Clinical cardiology, especially interventional cardiology, is one of the leading centers in the country.

In 1955, Shi Yushu and Zhou Jintai began to perform cardiac catheterization. In 1960, Zhou Jintai performed the first left heart catheterization in China.

Through the unremitting efforts of generations of department directors such as Shi Yushu, Zhou Jintai, Shi Jialing, Wan Zheng, Sun Yuemin, etc., the academic level ranks among the top in the country.

The current department director, Yang Qing, is an interventional expert in coronary heart disease.

At present, the department has a complete range of subspecialties, including coronary heart disease interventional therapy, pacing and electrophysiology, structural heart disease and pulmonary vascular disease, hypertension, heart failure, etc. It is one of the few centers in China that can independently carry out comprehensive interventional work.

The department is currently the National Health Commission's cardiovascular arrhythmia and coronary heart disease interventional treatment training base, a national chest pain center, a national cardiology specialist training base, a national atrial fibrillation demonstration center, is building and participating in the national hypertension center review, and is preparing to build a heart failure center. It is one of the important cardiovascular medicine diagnosis and treatment centers in China that integrates medical treatment, teaching and scientific research.

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine is one of the first departments of the General Hospital and one of the earliest departments in China to carry out clinical pharmacological trials.

It was approved as a national drug clinical trial institution in 1998, and passed the national SFDA review in 2013. It has completed nearly 100 clinical trials of drugs and devices, and has run more than 20 clinical trials in recent years.

The department currently has 118 staff, including 44 physicians (including 2 radiologists), 9 technicians, and 65 nurses.

Among the doctors, there are 9 chief physicians, 9 deputy chief physicians, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 7 master supervisors.

The department currently has 2 cath labs, 4 wards including CCU, Cardiac 1, Cardiac 2, and Cardiac 3, with 114 beds. There are 8 clinics on the second floor of the outpatient clinic, 3 clinics for famous expert clinics on the eighth floor, and 1 electrocardiogram room;

There is an echocardiography room and a cardiac cell electrophysiology laboratory.
