Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hohhot First Hospital

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Department (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Department) of Hohhot First Hospital was established in 2009.

There are currently 8 employees, all of whom have bachelor's degrees.

Among them, there is 1 chief physician and 2 resident physicians.

There is 1 chief nurse, 1 deputy chief nurse, 2 supervisory nurses and 1 nurse.

Hyperbaric oxygen is an emerging discipline. Its main task is to study the mechanisms of various reactions of tissues and organs when the body inhales high-concentration oxygen under a special environment of high pressure and the impact on various physiological functions and pathological changes of the body. It will ultimately be applied clinically to treat a variety of diseases.

In the past thirty years, with the development of science and technology, hyperbaric oxygen chamber equipment has become more complete and safer. People have a new understanding of the physiological effects and treatment mechanisms of HBO, and continue to explore more effective treatment options. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has developed rapidly around the world, and its unique clinical therapeutic effects have been recognized by doctors from all over the world.

Clinical practice has proven that hyperbaric oxygen can effectively treat a variety of acute and chronic ischemic and hypoxic diseases and secondary diseases caused by hypoxia.

The indications involve various clinical disciplines, especially for poisoning (carbon monoxide poisoning and delayed encephalopathy), sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage, craniocerebral injury, sudden deafness, decompression sickness, air embolism, anaerobic bacterial infection, and pre-skin grafting treatment. It has a very significant therapeutic effect.

While learning from the mature treatment plans of domestic counterparts, the department boldly innovates and now has an effective rate of 100% for acute carbon monoxide poisoning. The incidence of delayed encephalopathy in carbon monoxide poisoning is far lower than the domestic and international average.

In 2020, the department introduced the most advanced Hongyuan HY3800 hyperbaric oxygen chamber in China.

The equipment uses fully automated computer operation, which can more accurately control the pressure in the cabin, and is equipped with a more complete gas distribution system, which helps to implement individualized treatment plans for different patients.

Director Zhang Fulong has been a member of the Cerebral Resuscitation Group of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association since 2016, and the deputy chairman of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Branch of the Inner Mongolia Medical Doctors Association.

Since 2019, he has served as a member of the Neurological Restoration Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association.

Every year, the department sends people to participate in various academic activities organized by the Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association to communicate with domestic colleagues and learn advanced treatment and management experience, laying a solid foundation for the development of the department.
