Thoracic Surgery

The mission of the Thoracic Surgery Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Cancer Hospital is to “carry out individualized treatment with multidisciplinary integration as the center”.

The Thoracic Surgery Department was founded in 2008. It is a surgical department integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research.

The Department of Thoracic Surgery specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various benign and malignant tumors of the chest. It has rich experience in the surgical treatment of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, cardia cancer and mediastinal tumors. It has reached the domestic advanced level in terms of chest tumors and chest trauma. It can complete lobectomy, pneumonectomy, esophageal cancer and cardia cancer resection, and mediastinal tumor resection.

The current work includes thoracotomy and thoracoscopic surgery for lung cancer, one-incision, two-incision, three-incision thoracotomy and thoracoscopic-assisted surgery for esophageal cancer, thoracotomy and thoracoscopic surgery for empyema and hemopneumothorax.

Currently, the department has 45 open beds, and the medical team has 4 intermediate and above technical staff, including 2 chief physicians, 1 doctor with a doctoral degree, 1 doctor with a master's degree, 5 with a bachelor's degree, and a total of 18 medical staff, all of whom have completed professional training at the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Tianjin Cancer Hospital and Shandong Cancer Hospital.

It has established good technical and business cooperation with the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Tianjin Cancer Hospital, Shandong Cancer Hospital and the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University. It often conducts academic exchanges with thoracic surgery experts from many domestic cancer hospitals to provide standardized and individualized treatment of thoracic tumors.

The department is responsible for the theoretical and practical teaching of clinical medicine, Mongolian medicine, pharmacy, Chinese medicine undergraduate and junior college surgical courses of Inner Mongolia Medical University. It collects images and case data of typical cases to form a department case database, actively carries out teacher training and trial lecture systems, and regularly holds academic lectures in the department. It has been rated as "Advanced Teaching Department" many times.

The department actively carries out scientific research work, has an internal fund project, and has published nearly 60 papers in journals at all levels, including two SCI papers and 17 core journals.

Good medical ethics and excellent medical technology are the foundation of thoracic surgery. While adhering to the tenet of "centering on multi-disciplinary comprehensiveness and carrying out individualized treatment", the department always adheres to the service concept of "patient first, considerate and considerate" to improve communication and trust between doctors and patients. While diagnosing and treating diseases and resolving pain, the department pays more attention to patients' psychological treatment and popularization of medical knowledge to help patients correctly understand the disease, build confidence in disease resistance and smooth recovery, which has been recognized and praised by patients and their families.
