The Respiratory Department of the Cancer Hospital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was separated from the Department of Internal Medicine in 1982. After years of development, it has formed a clinical department with independent professional skills and integrating clinical, teaching and scientific research.
The respiratory department has an excellent team.
There is 1 chief physician, 1 deputy chief physician, 2 attending physicians, and 2 resident physicians.
Mainly engaged in chemotherapy, targeted drug therapy and palliative care for intermediate and advanced lung cancer.
Standardized cancer pain management, and bronchoscopy diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer.
Lung cancer is diagnosed through bronchoscopic mucosal biopsy, brushing, alveolar lavage, and lung biopsy.
Comprehensive treatments such as personalized chemotherapy, biological immunity, and molecular targeting are carried out based on the specific conditions of lung cancer patients. On the premise of ensuring the patient's quality of life, the ideal treatment effect is achieved through individualized comprehensive treatment measures, which significantly improves the patient's five-year survival rate.
We have established cooperation with laboratories to develop a molecular platform for multi-gene testing of advanced non-small cell lung cancer tissue/peripheral blood EGFR, KRAS mutations, C-MET amplification, EML4-ALK fusion genes, etc., making it possible to dynamically monitor EGFR and other gene mutations in patients with difficulty in obtaining tissue specimens before and during treatment, and more accurately guide individualized treatment.
The department is also engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases, such as: pulmonary infectious diseases, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, cor pulmonale, interstitial lung disease, pleural effusion, and sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome treatment.
Carry out pleural catheterization to treat patients with benign and malignant pleural effusion, and carry out local chemotherapy for malignant pleural effusion;
Carry out pulmonary function test and bronchodilation test. Through pulmonary function test, the patient's perioperative pulmonary function can be evaluated and diseases such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can be diagnosed.
The use of invasive and non-invasive ventilators has achieved good results in the treatment of patients with severe pneumonia, acute exacerbation of COPD, and severe asthma combined with respiratory failure.
Key featured projects of the department:
1. Chemotherapy and palliative care for intermediate and advanced lung cancer carried out by the team of chief physician Huo Fengzhi, director of the department.

2. Fiberoptic bronchoscopy, fiberoptic bronchoscopy mucosal biopsy and brushing, fiberoptic bronchoscopy lung biopsy and bronchoalveolar lavage performed by the team of department director Huo Fengzhi have improved the diagnosis rate of early lung cancer.
In particular, it assists the minimally invasive interventional department in carrying out fiberoptic bronchoscope-guided intracavitary implantation of radioactive particles for the treatment of lung cancer patients, filling a gap in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
3. The tissue/peripheral blood gene mutation detection of EGFR, ALK, ROS1, T790m and other genes carried out by the team of department director Huo Fengzhi, in cooperation with the laboratory department and pathology department, realizes the dynamic monitoring of gene mutations throughout the treatment process, and more accurately guides individualized treatment, so that patients have less pain, good curative effect, high quality of life, save money and trouble.
4. The team of chief physician Huo Fengzhi, director of the department, uses non-invasive and invasive ventilators to treat patients with acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe asthma, sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, and advanced lung cancer, achieving good results, prolonging patients’ lives, alleviating their pain, and improving their quality of life.
