Hematology Department

The Hematology Department of Xiyuan Hospital was founded in 1962, and a hematology laboratory was established at the same time.

It is currently a national key clinical specialty, a key discipline, a key specialty and a regional medical center of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has built a number of institutions such as the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s traditional Chinese medicine characteristic continuing education base, a key specialty, a traditional Chinese medicine clinical research base, a third-level laboratory of traditional Chinese medicine scientific research, a capital traditional Chinese medicine technology platform, a national drug clinical trial professional base, and a national famous traditional Chinese medicine studio.

In 2010, it became one of the first batch of construction units of the Ministry of Health’s National Key Clinical Specialty Traditional Chinese Medicine Project, and enjoys the treatment of the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Hematology Clinical Research Base.

In January 2015, the Beijing Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Hematology was established.

In May 2022, it will become a branch center of traditional Chinese medicine of the National Clinical Research Center for Blood System Diseases.

Currently, it is an affiliated unit of the Hematology Professional Committee of the China World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the Hematology Alliance of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and the Hematology Professional Committee of the Beijing Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.

The Department of Hematology currently has 21 physicians and researchers, including 17 with a master's degree or above.

It has 5 postdoctoral supervisors, 5 doctoral supervisors, 10 master's degree supervisors, 3 national famous doctors, 3 famous traditional Chinese medicine teachers in the capital, and 1 outstanding famous traditional Chinese medicine doctor in Beijing.

A large number of hematology talents of traditional Chinese medicine/integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine have been trained.

He has written dozens of monographs and published hundreds of papers.

It has undertaken more than 20 national key, industry-specific and National Natural Science Foundation projects, and 13 provincial, ministerial and bureau-level scientific research projects.

He has won 1 National Grade B Achievement Award, 3 Ministerial Science and Technology Achievement Awards, 9 Science and Technology Progress Awards of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, 4 Science and Technology Awards of the Chinese Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, and 4 Science and Technology Awards of the Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The Department of Hematology focuses on improving clinical efficacy, focusing on the prevention and treatment of common diseases of the blood system and major and difficult diseases, focusing on myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), minimal residual leukemia (MRD), aplastic anemia (AA), allergic purpura, etc., giving full play to the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in the research of blood diseases, and promoting the development of the hematology discipline of traditional Chinese medicine.

Carry out etiology research, secondary blood disease research, and blood disease comorbidity research (combined tumors, combined pregnancy, etc.);

Research on the standardization of TCM disease names for blood diseases, research on the standardization of diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases with TCM and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, research on the evaluation of the efficacy of TCM in the treatment of blood diseases, and clinical practice guidelines for blood diseases;

Hematological disease literature research;

Research on the academic experience of famous traditional Chinese medicine practitioners with blood diseases;

Construction of talent echelon of traditional Chinese medicine for blood diseases.
