Pulmonary Department

The Department of Pulmonary Pathology at the West China Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences was established in 1970, and is the first research base for respiratory diseases in the country. For more than thirty years, with the support of the National Medical Administration and hospitals in China, the Department of Pneumology has been established as a comprehensive respiratory laboratory with 36 specialist beds; independent clinics; lung function rooms; fiber-glass tube lenses; blood analysis rooms; sleep monitoring rooms and basic laboratories; it is the medical and respiratory clinical pharmacology base of the Ministry of Health, previously approved by the Beijing Municipal Health Authority and the Chinese Medical Institute. The Department of Pneumology at Western Hospital has been consistently ranked nationally as a leader in the field of combined treatment for COPD, respiratory asthma, cardiovascular disease and pulmonary fibrosis, with numerous clinical and experimental studies related to it receiving scientific achievement awards. It is currently still undertaking research on a number of topics including the Capital Medical Development Fund, the National Chinese Medical Administration, the National Science and Technology Department, Beijing City Medical Administration, and the China Institute of Medicine.
