Guang'anmen Hospital, Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences

The HIV laboratory at Guangzhou Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, or AIDS, is a clinical syndrome caused by infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes low body immune function, making it susceptible to various incidental infections and clinical syndromes of certain tumors. Since the discovery of AIDS in 1981, countries around the world have invested a great deal of human and material resources into research and treatment. Chinese medicine has conducted early HIV/AIDS research, with the most significant being the Joint Research Project on HIV/AIDS in China and Tanzania. The project is a collaboration between the Chinese National Drug Administration and the Tanzanian Ministry of Health, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Medical University of China and Guangdong Hospital, which represent China in sending experts to Tanzania for research into the treatment of HIV in Chinese medicine. Project started in 1987, clinical, pharmacological, experimental, and care experts from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Guangdong Hospital travelled extensively to the Tanzania AIDS site, conducting in-depth research on the Chinese medical pathogen for AIDS, identifying the rules of treatment, and effective medicines.
