Surgery Department

The Surgery Department of Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences was established in 1955 together with the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is one of the earliest important departments of a traditional Chinese medicine hospital in my country.

After continuous development, the Department of Surgery has gradually become a department characterized by traditional Chinese medicine, western medicine and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. It comprehensively uses traditional Chinese medicine, western medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine and other methods to treat various common diseases, frequently-occurring diseases and various difficult and complicated diseases in surgery.

Thanks to the hard work of the older generation of medical staff, they have gained rich experience in treating diseases such as vasculitis, phlebitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, breast and thyroid diseases, and have won the Class B Achievement Award from the Ministry of Health and the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Experts from the department serve as chairman of various professional committees of the Beijing Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.

With the continuous advancement of surgical academics and extensive business expansion, the Department of Surgery currently has multiple academic professional groups: Vascular Surgery Group, Breast and Endocrine Surgery Group, Hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery Group, Gastrointestinal Surgery Group, and Hepatobiliary Surgery Group.
