Department Overview Radiation therapy work at the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University began in 1979. In 1992, the radiotherapy specialty was separated from the oncology department and the radiotherapy department was established to specialize in tumor radiotherapy. The department currently has two wards with a total of 98 beds, and treats more than 1,200 cancer patients every year. The Department of Radiotherapy of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University is a key clinical medicine discipline in the autonomous region. The radiotherapy department consists of five parts: radiotherapy ward, radiotherapy clinic, radiotherapy machine clinic, body Gamma Knife Center and head Gamma Knife Center. The professional group includes five groups of technical personnel: doctor group, nursing group, physics group and technical group. The radiotherapy department of our hospital has strong technical force and is responsible for the medical treatment, teaching, technical guidance, talent training, scientific and technological research related to radiotherapy in Inner Mongolia, as well as the standardized training of radiotherapy residents in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the quality control of radiotherapy. The Department of Radiotherapy has a high-quality team composed of senior experts and highly educated personnel, as well as various technical personnel. There are currently 65 general staff, 21 physicians, 6 physicists, 1 engineer, 16 technicians, and 21 nurses. Among them, 8 have senior professional titles, 7 have deputy senior professional titles, 13 have intermediate professional titles, and 37 have junior professional titles. There are 4 people with doctoral degrees, 18 people with master's degrees, 31 people with bachelor's degrees, and 10 people with college degrees. The main equipment is: 3 linear accelerators, namely Siemens Primus-M, Primus-E and Varian Trilogy; 1 Tomotherapy tomotherapy machine; 2 sets of Gamma Knife treatment systems (head Gamma Knife and whole body Gamma Knife); 1 set of Large-aperture CT simulation positioning machine, 1 digital Business scopeThe main radiotherapy technologies carried out include: adaptive radiotherapy (ART), dose-guided radiotherapy (DGRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), three-dimensional intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), head gamma knife treatment, body gamma knife treatment, head X-knife treatment, three-dimensional brachytherapy, radioactive seed implantation treatment, electron beam radiotherapy, deep X-ray radiotherapy, simultaneous radiochemotherapy and deep and superficial tumor hyperthermia. At present, it is the only radiotherapy center in the autonomous region that can carry out all radiotherapy techniques. The Department of Radiotherapy of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University has taken the lead in teaching radiation oncology since 1995 and has done active work in cultivating radiotherapy professionals in our region. It has trained more than 4,000 outstanding undergraduate graduates and more than 20 master's students, including 3 doctoral students and 5 doctoral candidates. Currently, there are 10 master’s degree students.
