Department Overview: The Neurosurgery Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University was established in 1964. It has 120 open beds and is divided into two nursing units A/B and the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit (NICU). There are 24 doctors, 5 chief physicians and professors, 8 deputy chief physicians and associate professors; 4 graduate tutors; 4 clinical doctors and 5 PhD candidates. There are 63 nurses, 31 of whom have bachelor's degrees. Through the efforts of several generations of neurosurgeons, the Neurosurgery Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Key Clinical Specialty"; "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Prairie Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team"; "Advanced Collective of Health System of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region"; The current outpatient volume is about 10,000 people/year, more than 2,000 hospitalizations/year, and more than 1,000 surgeries/year. The cure and improvement rate is greater than 95%.It has 3 Leica operating microscopes, contact laser scalpels, neuroendoscopes, stereotaxic and ultrasound navigation systems, ultrasonic suction scalpels, intraoperative evoked potential monitoring systems and cortical EEG monitoring systems, as well as complete microsurgical instruments to ensure the smooth progress of precise and minimally invasive neurosurgery. The ward is equipped with complete monitoring, treatment and rescue facilities. Nurses implement responsible overall specialist care and carry out rehabilitation treatment for patients with neurological deficits. It has won honorary titles such as "National Quality Nursing Service Demonstration Ward"; "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Quality Nursing Service Demonstration Ward"; "Hohhot Quality Nursing Service Demonstration Ward". In 1996, the Ministry of Education approved it as a master’s training base and has trained more than 100 graduate students. Personnel for further training and study come from hospitals at all levels across the country. The neurosurgery team of the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University adheres to the tenets of safety, quality, service and continuous improvement; adheres to development as the center, takes quality and harmony as the basic points, and strives to develop into a united, positive and learning team.Business scope (including academic and scientific research results): Clinical treatment is divided into 5 sub-specialties: ⑴. Craniocerebral trauma specialty: surgical treatment and comprehensive treatment of craniocerebral injuries. The treatment technology and cure and improvement rate have reached the domestic advanced level. ⑵. Specialty in cranial tumors, hydrocephalus and neuroendoscopy: microscopic and precise surgical treatment of tumors in various parts of the skull and brain, such as gliomas, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, brain abscesses, etc. Neuroendoscopic pituitary tumor resection, cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea repair, hydrocephalus shunt and microvascular decompression surgery. High-risk operations such as petroclival area tumors, skull base tumors, and brainstem tumors were performed. ⑶. Cerebrovascular disease specialty: surgical and interventional treatment of hemorrhagic cerebrovascular diseases such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous hemangioma, hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage, arteriovenous fistula, intracranial and external artery stenosis and other hemorrhagic and ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. ⑷. Specialty in spinal cord diseases: congenital lesions within and outside the spinal cord, trauma, vascular lesions, tumors, infections and other diseases that require surgical treatment. Such as microsurgical treatment of intraspinal tumors, skull base depression, syringomyelia, tethered cord, sacral canal cyst and spinal stenosis, etc. ⑸. Functional neurosurgery specialty;Microvascular nerve decompression treatment for trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, spasmodic diseases, etc.; Stereotactic navigation targeted therapy for positive lesions in the brain: such as foreign body removal, abscess puncture and aspiration, hematoma puncture and aspiration, and targeted therapy for negative lesions: such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, etc. There are two stable research directions in clinical treatment: 1. Individualized and comprehensive treatment of brain glioma; 2. Microsurgical treatment and interventional treatment of bleeding and ischemic vascular diseases. Basic research has relatively mature research results on the causes of brain gliomas, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and cerebrovascular diseases (cerebral aneurysms, cerebral arteriovenous malformations, carotid artery stenosis), treatment strategies, and neural stem cell therapy after brain injury. In recent years, he has won 5 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards, published more than 300 papers in core journals, edited, translated and participated in the editing of 11 monographs on neurosurgery, and has more than 30 research projects. Special medical technologies of the department: Special treatment areas include 1. Microsurgery and endoscopic treatment of brain tumors such as gliomas, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas, etc.; 2. Microsurgery and interventional treatment of cerebrovascular diseases such as aneurysms, vascular malformations, and carotid artery stenosis;3. Microsurgical treatment of congenital brain and spinal cord diseases such as hydrocephalus, skull base, and spinal cord malformations; 4. Microsurgical treatment of spinal cord tumors; 5. Microsurgical surgery and gamma knife treatment of functional diseases such as trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, and epilepsy; 6. Microsurgical treatment of deep brain and functional area lesions using stereotaxic navigation combined with intraoperative awakening technology.
