PekingUniversityFirstHospitaloriginatedastheClinicaffiliatedwiththeBeijingMedicalSpecializedSchool,andwassubsequentlyrenamedtheAffiliatedHospitalofPekingUniversityMedicalSchool,theAffiliatedHospitalofPeipingUniversityMedicalCollege,andothers.
In1946,thehospitalbecamepartofPekingUniversityalongwiththePeipingUniversityMedicalCollege,fromwhichitderivedthename'PekingUniversityHospital'(BeidaHospital).
In1952,followingthenationalreorganizationofcollegesanddepartments,PekingUniversityMedicalCollegebecameanindependentinstitution,establishedasBeijingMedicalCollege,laterrenamedBeijingMedicalUniversity;thehospitalwasaccordinglyrenamedtheAffiliatedHospitalofBeijingMedicalCollege,theFirstHospitalofBeijingMedicalCollege,andtheFirstHospitalofBeijingMedicalUniversity.
In2000,PekingUniversityandBeijingMedicalUniversitymergedagain,andthehospitalwasrenamed'PekingUniversityFirstHospital.'PekingUniversityHospitalhascomprehensivedisciplinesandranksamongthetoptierdomesticallywithworld-classstrength;itsprimaryclinicalmedicinedisciplineasafirst-levelfieldhasbeenincludedinthenational'DoubleFirst-Class'initiative.
Itcurrentlyhas4keydisciplinesoftheMinistryofEducation(aslead),1keydisciplineoftheNationalAdministrationofTraditionalChineseMedicine(aslead),3keydisciplinesofBeijingMunicipality(aslead),and7keydisciplinesoftheMinistryofEducation(asparticipant).
Ithasbeenapprovedfor29nationalkeyclinicalspecialtyconstructionprojects,covering25disciplines.Inthe2022ChinaHospitalReputationRanking,1disciplinerankedfirstnationally,5rankedinthetopfive,and9rankedinthetopten.
Intermsofleadingtalentdevelopment,ithas1academicianoftheChineseAcademyofEngineering,1NationalNaturalScienceFoundationinnovationgroup,6'TenThousandTalentsPlan'leadingtalents/teams,10recipientsoftheNationalNaturalScienceFoundationDistinguishedYoungScholarsFund,5speciallyappointed/special-postChangjiangScholars,2MinistryofEducationinnovationteams,6MinistryofScienceandTechnologyleadingtalents/teams,aswellas13othernationalhigh-leveltalentsand31Beijingmunicipalhigh-leveltalents.
