AviationGeneralHospitalwasapprovedforestablishmentbytheStateCouncilandtheCentralMilitaryCommissionin1972andofficiallyopenedin1987.AffiliatedwiththeAviationIndustryCorporationofChina(AVIC),itisalargecomprehensivepublictertiaryhospitalcharacterizedbyaviationmedicine,integratingmedicalcare,teaching,research,prevention,emergency,rehabilitation,andhealthpromotion.

ItisaCivilizedUnitoftheCentralGovernment,aUN'Baby-FriendlyHospital,'a'NationalDemonstrationHospitalTrustedbythePublic,'aBeijing'Health-PromotingHospital,'aBeijing'SafeHospital,'the'BeiyuanRegionalMedicalCenter'ofBeijing,andaBeijingClassAdesignatedhospital.

Thehospitalundertakes'medicine-industryintegration'researchtaskssuchasthedevelopmentofnewaviationequipmentandlarge-scaleflighttests,medicalsupporttasksincludingdefensehigh-techtalentdevelopmentandaviationoccupationaldiseaseprevention,aswellasmedicalsecurityforoveronemillionresidentsinsurroundingareas,andisthesoledesignatedmedicalinstitutionoftheMinistryofVeteransAffairs.

Thehospitalhasabuildingareaof119,000squaremetersand1,200approvedbeds.Itcomprisesoneheadquarters,fouroutpatientdepartments,andtenclinics,withafullrangeofspecialties.

Itcurrentlyhas1,745staff,including85chiefphysicians,254associatechiefphysicians,67doctoraldegreeholders,and374master'sdegreeholders.Inthe2021nationalperformanceevaluationofpublictertiaryhospitals,itranked23rdamonghospitalswithoutannualreportsnationwide,and18thinthe2021Beijingcomprehensiveevaluationofmedicalservicecapacitymanagement.

Thehospitalconsistentlyadherestothephilosophyof'seekingvaluethroughhealthandpursuingdevelopmentthroughdifferentiation,'focusingonthedevelopmentoffivemajordisciplines,advancingtheconstructionoffourcenters,strengtheningthreecapabilityimprovements,implementingtwokeytasks,andupholdingonecoreprinciple.

TheNeurosurgeryBranchhas10neurosurgicalsubspecialtieswithover300bedsandnearly4,000surgeriesperyear,andservesastheflexibleneuroendoscopytrainingbaseoftheChineseMedicalDoctorAssociation.

TheStomatologyCenterhasnearly100dentalchairsandleadstheindustryinpainlessminimallyinvasiveoraldiagnosisandtreatmentanddentalimplants.TheDepartmentofObstetricsandGynecologyisadifficultgynecologicaloncologyconsultationcenterofChina.

TheDepartmentofTraditionalChineseMedicinehostsresearchstudiosincludingthe'LuoYoumingFamousExpertStudio,'ledbyLuoSulan,arepresentativeinheritorofnationalintangibleculturalheritage,andthe'YanXiaopingFamousDoctorInheritanceWorkstation(AviationGeneralHospitalBranch).

'Thehospitalisstrivingtobuildfouraviation-medicinedistinctivedisciplines—theAviationMedicineEngineeringCenter,theAviationOccupationalDiseasePreventionandTreatmentCenter,theAviationMedicalSecurityCenter,andtheTestPilotPhysicalExaminationCenter—toadvancetheintegrationandinnovationofmedicineandengineering.
